He always has his music career to fall back on...oh wait, his cd only sold 3 copies Dude has the talent to be one of the best all around players in the league. With his body type, defensive presence and offensive skills, he should be one of the top 10-15 players in the NBA, instead he is a disgrace.
If he retires, he'll stay away from the game for a short while, spend all his money, then, when he's broke, he'll try to return to the NBA (assuming he's not in jail).
that wasn't the story. the story was that he tried to help a bunch of guys from his neighborhood by giving them all jobs, it was stupid stuff like actually putting his barber on the payroll but he wasn't handing out money to random strangers. after that year he said he would hire someone to handle his money for him, whether he did or not I don't know.
If he retires, it'll last for 6 months. Besides, I have been under the impression that he does not have much in the way of life savings socked away. It won't last long if it happens. Evan -edit: should have read through - CH already made the same observation.
Geez. It seems to me like basketball is the only reason Ron-Ron isn't in jail right now. Why walk away from the one good thing in your life?
I can't believe all of you who are saying that basketball is the only good thing he has going. That's GOOD? If so, then why is he in trouble ON THE COURT so often?
'Cause he's stupid. Remember a while back when he was thinking about retiring so that he could pursue his career in rap? Stupid. Ron Artest is a complete idiot.
I wouldn't be surprised if Artest actually retires, only to come back in a year or two. Ronron is crazy. There are players who act crazy like Dennis Rodman, and there are players who are just immature like Rasheed Wallace. Artest is neither of them. He is simply mentally ill and seriously needs some professional help.
http://www.hiphopgame.com/index2.php3?page=ronartestjournal Hey, everybody. I know you all probably have a lot of questions and I’m going to take this time to answer them. I broke the news on HipHopGame about possibly retiring from basketball. That was not a publicity stunt to get attention. That was exactly how I was feeling that night. The next day I was really leaning towards retirement because I wanted to be by my family more. What a lot of the people who criticize me don’t understand is that not having your family around can make you weak. That’s exactly what happened to me. I’ve been away from my family for awhile and it’s affected what I want for my future. I really thought the best decision at that time was for me to retire to spend more time with them. I’m not retiring from the NBA. I have a lot of great years left in me and I still have a lot to prove. I have a lot to prove to myself, to my family, to my supporters and to my doubters. I’m not going to run from anything. Running is not the solution to my problems or any problems for that matter. Playing basketball is the only distraction I have right now from not being around my family. Whenever I’m not playing ball, I’m thinking about them constantly. That’s not easy for me to deal with and I thought if I retired I would be able to not miss them as much. My teammates, coaches and people within the Kings organization have been great to me throughout this whole thing. I spoke with my team and they let me know that they had my back. I really appreciate and thank them for their support. This is the time when I need the most support and it means a lot to me that they’re there for me. I love Sacramento and I’m looking forward to the Playoffs this year.
