Anyone else find it odd that the quotes about Ron's injury in the Chronicle article are from his agent? I don't ever remember seeing an agent making any statements pertaining to injury issues. I'm glad he's sitting out as we definitely don't want him to aggravate the injury, but it also seems like that's the agent's concern as well considering this is a contract year. And I'm aware that they mentioned playing will not worsen the condition.
In Tracy's situation the doctor's wanted him to play on it as part of his rehabilitation efforts. That's not the case with Ron. He is not rehabbing a repaired knee. He is trying to mitigate further pain and lengthening his recovery time. Also, Ron didn't just "try to play" last night, he did play and help this team win. I do agree with you though that we need healthy people come playoffs. Unfortunately, resting up now is not a guarantee of home court advantage, much less any sort of guarantee that these people will be healthy at the end of the season.
The problem I have with this type of logic is all the information you are getting is based off of media soundbytes. People go back to "well a doctor told him he would get better by playing". It doesn't neccesarily follow that not playing on it doesn't make it better (in fact, if that was the case, he would never make it back). Here's a hypothetical situation I've already pointed out in another thread: Say he plays through it and its 100% in say 2 months vs him sitting out for 3 weeks and its 100% after 3 weeks. If that was the case, a doctor could say "well playing on it will make it better" and it would be true technically, but it would heal faster if he rested it and rehabbed it. And the other telling sign that some of the Anti-Tmac people have it slightly wrong. No word of Adelman or Morey or any teammate being pissed off at Tmac. If it was really true that he would be 100% faster if he played on it... don't you think everyone involved in the organization would be as pissed as you are at Tmac? Again... this all goes back to the fact that we are pulling facts from the media outlets and we can't be sure whats true and what isn't. I mean ****... we're basing that Artest is resting it based on his on decisions because of a single statement he made. I'm not saying he's lying, but you know how players talk to the media and don't give them the whole story, or maybe slightly misrepresent it so that it doesn't look as bad.
Artest deserves credit for playing through pain. It's really that simple. He has legitimate damage to his ankle and her is still trying his best to play in every game possible. He's certainly not sitting out games he doesn't need to
The doctors already said his ankle is fine to play on, but Artest is sitting out because the pain was frustrating him. What part of that is "playing through pain" or "not sitting out games he doesn't need to"? Fact is, Artest is human just like Tmac. The upcoming games are meaningless in the grand scheme of things. I'd rather have us squeak into the Playoffs as the eigth seed but fully healthy rather than have us limp in as the 4rth seed but only with 1.75 of our big 3 intact.
damn i'm going to the warriors game on friday and i'm near the rockets bench. i was hoping to see ron artest during warm ups
Okay,if someone didn't step up for us against Warriors, then it ain't gonna be no W for us. We need some backup! It's a good opportunity for Stevie to make a debut with Rox this season, surprising everybody with his energy and explosive
