Thats the thing, we're basing a lot of this stuff on quotes in the media. Who knows what is true and what is only partially true?

Artest didn't waive an MRI and then later say that he needed time off.

show me where it says the doctors are forcing artest sit out, then i'll retract my statement. all the article says is that the doctors say artest can play as long as he can tolerate the pain. if he's sitting out, it's only because of pain, not because of risk of injury. he'll rest and get treatment while he's out.

the doctors told tmac to play through the pain to strengthen his knee, but tmac can't tolerate the pain. so he's sitting out because of pain and will rest and get treatment until he's ready.

lol at you using artest's statement that he's waiting for tmac to heal so can rest to somehow prove your point that the situations are different, when tmac said the exact same thing in regards to battier coming back (he would play until battier got back so he could get some rest).

the bottom line is, for both players its just a matter of playing through pain. artest probably has a higher threshold for pain, but it doesn't mean tmac is being selfish for sitting until he can play when artest is doing the same thing.

    Artest gets MRI on ankle
There you go my man, following doctor's advice.
And read my previous post, I've had this injury, and I've also had 3 knee surgeries. I'd rather play on my ankle after a week to two week's rest than ever rush back from a surgery on my knee. Rushing back can lead to more surgery, and more time off, I would also know this from experience.

And all this hate on the injuries for T-Mac and Artest...y'all should really calm down. Neither player is out for the year, I'd LOVE to see you play with that injury, and if anything they'll be better rested come playoff time....isn't that what we've wanted anyways...?

Uh... you might want to take a look at the statement I bolded. The doctor basically said "if it feels good, play, if not don't play". Which basically means "do whatever you want".

Again, we're using quotes from the media. Drawing conclusions based off of sound bytes probably isn't the best thing to do.

again, the doctor didn't tell him he needed to sit to get better. he just said if he didn't feel good, then he doesn't have to play. i don't see how that's any different than what tmac is doing, except that we don't have a quote from a doctor telling him "if you don't feel good, don't play." im pretty sure common sense would dictate that anybody who is in too much pain shouldn't play, and that's all tmac is doing. following common sense.

as for the latter half of your post, wouldn't that just make you more sympathetic to tmac wanting to get proper rest? im not sure what we're arguing about if you're saying the knee injury requires more time off. a bum knee is a lot harder to play on than a bum ankle, i think we all know that. i'm not bashing artest here, im just saying there's a massive double standard going on with the hate for tmac. im as frustrated as anybody with our injuries, but i was also pissed off watching tmac running around out there with one leg half-hurting and half-helping the team. im not going to hate on him until playoff time comes. if he's rested all season and doesn't get us out of round 1, then he's lost my faith. but if he gets us out of round 1, i don't care if he misses the rest of the regular season.

This is true, but have you ever torn the ligaments in your ankle...or any ligament for that matter. Its very uncomfortable and can balloon up his ankle pretty good after an NBA game I'd imagine.
The point I'm trying to make is that the doctor told him he shouldn't play if it isn't feeling good, and he's not superman so there will be days he wakes up with a balloon in his ankle, or stiffness/soreness. Ankle injuries take a lot away from one's game.

No, I'm not sympathetic to T-Mac because its all in his head. I experienced the same thing after my 2nd surgery on my right knee. Also, a doctor told him he's fine to continue playing and that it would actually help his rehab...so he took it upon himself to sit out longer than the doctor had suggested.
Alright, I get that I misread the quotes and that's fine. Here's my thing though, Artest's injury can randomly flare up or become bothersome to the point that it takes away from his game, but he'll also have days (more-so than less) where it feels good enough to go out there. There's going to be days where he cannot physically perform due to this, while T-Mac is physically able to play and would benefit from playing too....I don't see this as a double standard, but I can see where you're drawing that conclusion about the BBS as a whole.

get a matt bullard jersey and have him sign it.

I've been able to talk to bull when the rockets have come into LA. heck if you want to overnight me his jersey I can take it to the game and have him sign it there and ship it back to you.

Obviously, both T-Mac and Ron have injuries that are painful and prevent them from performing their best.

As a result, both of them are taking a few games off to deal with it.

I don't understand the double-standard here. Nobody here knows how they are feeling, so lets just wait and see and hope they can return as soon as possible.

    Exactly.

It's no big deal. Let him rest. We shouldn't be too worried about playoff seeding because the world is not perfect. We are not blessed with two 82 game superstars. I think we can all say we're safely making the playoffs, the priority should be to be healthy once we're there.

Doctors to Tmac "You need to play to strengthen it"

Doctors to Ron "You can play when you can tolerate the pain"

But either way....I hope they both come back....soon!!!

keith jones said the doctors said ron can play on it if he wants. so technically he can play.

ron said it last night RIGHT AFTER THE GAME. he probably went home and it got too painful. same scenario.

and tracy is facing soreness in his quest to "play on it" and decides it's painful also.

ron tried to play last night and saw that it "swelled up" and too painful too play.

doctors said both can play on it if they want to.

ultimately, if you're not nearly 100% health, DON'T PLAY NOW. rest up to be healthy for later. we need bodies in april, not v. clips and warriors.
