Artest is barely taller than Chuck Hayes. And he is no where near the rebounder. If Artest is going to be a Rocket, it would have to be at the expense of Battier. This is not D'Antoni's Suns, no way they could start THREE swings in Houston - especiall without a Nash type at PG. Not even with Rick Adelman as coach.
Artest on the Rockets would be awesome. Start him at small and move Battier to the bench. He would be that consistent third scorer which we so desperately need, and would instantly become our best defender. More importantly, Artest would also be the enforcer that we seem to be lacking. None of our guys have that phsyical toughness that Artest would bring to the table.
Artest goes 245. He is laller and bigger than Hayes. Artest also rebounds more than Tmac or Battier, though not as much as Hayes. Part of that could be because he is away from the basket on both ends--not because Artest couldn't be a solid rebounding 4. For not too much cost (Howard or Alston)--he is a very risk personality, I'd take him.
what kind of stupid thread is this? chances are close to zerop that artest will come....stop dreaming
Maybe that is right. I don't think he would come to Houston but it doesn't change one thing: Artest in Houston sounds great. He can be a scorer but also a great defender (maybe even better than Shane)
perhaps they should set-up a poll on this? it would make the Title more relevant if nothing else... I would include a few conditional trades for instance...artest for battier...and then a more favorable artest for howard + head...and so on ...
omfg i was so on this 2 weeks ago saying they will give artest away for peanuts and everyone called me a jackass saying no way sacramento takes this deal please stop running over my basketball genius.
with all the ridiculous trade proposals popping up around here...how is anyone really supposed to keep up anyway?
I suspect Sac would take an Artest for Battier swap in a second. I wouldn't, despite the talent gain. It would be a very risky move. But Alston or Howard + #26 for Artest is not that unbalanced. Artest has great talent, but his red flags are just as big. Threat to chemistry, threat to community relations, and you have to be concerned about whether he will be on the court given his injury and suspension history. Artest has missed many games every year in the league and missed half the games the last 3 years. Despite his outstanding individual basketball skills, this guy is not a hot league commodity by any stretch--not even as high as Rodman on his way out of the San Antonio fiasco.
i'm a sucker for talent. i'd trade for him. at least he is proven all-nba talent, not "potential" like stromile was. this is the kind of move the rockets will have to make in order to get over the hump. and to all you JVG haters out there: JVG may be one of the few coaches along with phil jackson who could actually "handle" artest. (notice i didn't say control; there is no controlling him) i think JVG would actually keep artest focused on his performance on the court.
well that doesn't change the fact that we can't package a deal that the kings would accept or that another team wouldn't be able to match
Artest for V-span and Sura works under the cap. Kings cut Sura and V-span backs up Bibby. Battier moves to the bench and becomes our 6th man.
Well, we can only hope Artest gets in more legal trouble, then they might. Do we know any cops in Sactown?
List me a few teams that would make this great offer for him...hmmm? Is a salary dump of Sura plus Snyder and our 1st that far off? They get 5 mil off the books now and get a young athletic sg/sf plus another 1st to help rebuild. They get rid of a player that was never really working out last year. Teams are not going to offer good player for Artest because with Artest, you potentially have what we got from Bonzi...nothing. It is worth the risk to me and I think it is very possible. We use to be very interested in him back in Indiana, I wonder if Morey and Les would take a shot... -V
