If somehow we get Artest, there is no well in hell he is coming off the bench behind Battier. I know everyone here loves Battier but Artest is a borderline all-star that can run an offense, create his own shot, and is one of the top 5 defenders in the league. Artest has all of Battiers intangibles and has tangibles to go along with. He led the league in steals this season.

Battier is the poor(and sane) man's Artest.

I would like a trade more along the lines of this:

    Juwan Howard
    Shane Battier
    Rafer Alston
    Bob Sura

    FOR

    Mike Bibby
    Ron Artest

I think this has a better chance of happening because you really need to give up talent to get talent. Besides, if we're going to be taking a risk, isn't it better to get somebody we know we can count on in the proccess? We would have an issue of depth of course, but we would still be looking pretty decent...

    PG-Bibby/V Span
    SG-Wells/Snyder
    SF-Mac/
    PF-Artest/Hayes
    C-Yao/Dik

We would still need to make some moves to better our bench, but we would still be looking farely nicely!

I can go for this lineup:

    PG - ?
    SG - McGrady
    SF - Artest
    PF - Battier
    C - Yao

Yao would have to assert himself as a force on the defensive boards.

I simply can't believe that people want him on their team.

He practically destroyed my team, the Pacers, and then went to Sacto and wore out his welcome very fast.

He has not changed one single bit!

The unreported story from a couple of years back is that the REAL REASON he demanded a trade was that the Pacers, backed by the league office, were INSISTING that he get mental help treatment and he absolutely refused to do so. He refused to kshow up for appointments, refused to see any mental-health doctors at all, and beliggerently refused to cooperate. The players association backed him on this, arguing that a team cannot force someone to undergo mental health treatment against their will. It was also expressly forbidden, for privacy reasons, for the Pacers or anyone to say that this was the reason for moRon's trade demands.

People with severe mental issues who won't see a doctor and won't do anything to improve their mental state do not just get better.

He will keep going from team to team and keep leaving a big stinking mess behind every time!

    Thank you.

This guy is not someone who messed up once and deserves a second chance. He has left a wake of destruction everywhere he has been for the last 4 years. As I said before, it is not a matter of IF Ron Artest will implode your team but a matter of WHEN.

Ron Artest just needs to learn from Mutumbo. Who wants to sex Ron Artest? See, if he took that philosophy he wouldn't be so angry all the time.

um everywhere he went, he thinks he is their best player so he could act like that. we all know jermaine o'neal is not a franchise player and artest had a bigger impact on the team than o'neal did.

on this team, he would EASILY be the 3rd best player behind tmac and yao. and tmac is a superstar and artest really respects him. i expect him to willingly defer to tmac (tmac has destroyed him in the past so...)

and if he comes here, might as well start tmac, battier, and artest on the perimeter.

again, adelman is a PLAYER'S COACH. so i hope he has some influence on trades.

the rockets are in a place where they need to take some gambles and hope for a payoff. artest is a gamble but he's never played on a team as good as a t-mac + yao + artest team would be.

if you get him on the cheap you take the chance i think.

Ron Artest was horrible (only slight overstatement) under Adelman in Sacramento. He lost some on defense, and turned into an inefficient blackhole on offense. Again, he responds well to coaching and plays well when he's forced to play within himself. Until he quit on Carlisle, he was always a positive force on the court, regardless of outside antics. He virtually ruined the Kings. If you're going to take a chance with a knucklehead, you have to have a strong-willed coach. (Oh yeah, and I'd bet the farm that Adelman would beg Morey not to take him.)

He's played on a team that won 61 games, the best record in the league (2003-2004 Pacers).

When they got to the ECF against Detroit he flaked out.

artest went to the ECF with the pacers and flaked out because he didn't have a supporting cast. now I WANT RON ON THE TEAM!!!!!

IF WE GET RON, AND ADELMAN, AND ANY OTHER PG OTHER THAN RAFER......I GUARANTEE A CHAMPIONSHIP, AND I WILL PUT ANYTHING ON IT

Dang. If Artest comes over, Bozi is going to stay because they are really tight, so tight that Artest threatened to kill Bonzi if he were to leave the Kings, which obviously didnt happen.

Oh, my, Artest and Bonzi in Houston, this could be a mad house. :D

    :D

Are you contricditing yourself. I say Shane Battier is half of talent of Artest skill wise, other than that there is no talent on our part.

What's Bibby's salary's situation? I heard Kings are interested in JVG if he is gone in Houston. The trade option is limitless if that is going to happen.

I still don't understand this boards sudden mancrush on Mike Bibby...

The reason he didn't opt out of his contract was because he realized his game was in constant decline and he wasn't going to get anywhere near what he is due on the open market...ussually a bad sign for aging guard.

on top of this he still has 2 more years remaining at a cost greater than that of Yao...

if you think we are in a bad position to add talent right now...imagine the clusterf  ck we are going to be in if Bibby doesn't pan out and we are stuck with his contract for 2 plus seasons...

I don't think we'll have too much of a depth issue I think we just got rid of a coach who did not know when, where and how to use the depth we have. Rudy T is a coach who knew about depth. Rudy's intuitive use of substitution helped us win those championships. JVG did not seem to have that same ability.

Now that Adelman is here, is trading for Artest (who had his best year under Adelman) a smart move?

I don't think it would take much to get him in light of his offenses. We could probably send a draft pick and expiring contract (Bob Sura) and get him.

I think that move coupled with getting Earl Watson from the Sonics for Kirk Snyder and change would make us a better team.

    Watson/ Rafer/ Spanoulis
    McGrady/Head
    Battier/Artest/ Novak
    Hayes/Artest
    Yao/Howard
