3 schools of thought. All Fail

    Talent Wise....
You're asking for the world buddy. This isn't 2002-2003. Ain't Nobody givin up Turiaf, Maggette AND Stephen Jackson for a broken down 30 year old Mcgrady no matter how good is contract looks coming off the books. But maybe the Warriors would because on paper the deal looks too good to be true but in reality is it? Lets take a closer look....

    Contract Wise....
Even if such an offer was on the table ask yourself do you really want this deal. I mean really? Maggette and Captain Jack are 29 and 31 respectively and they both have 5 years left on their contracts. I know we're in it to win it but you do the math. It just doesn't make sense.

    Basketball wise....
Turiaf would be the ultimate prize in this deal. He's relatively young, has decent size and can board and block shots. Those all sound good to me. However, you look at Jackson and Maggette. First and foremost these guys are both volume shooters. One averaged 17 fga's and the other 12. We simply don't have enough basketballs to go around with all these guys. Jackson puts up numbers 20ppg but he's a chucker and shot a putrid .405 and .414 the last two years. That's just not going to get it done plain and simple.

While I like Maggette's penetration and intensity.... I'd rather aim for somebody with a better jumper with 3pt range. Besides if we re-sign Artest he seems kinda redundant anyways.

    Just an interesting related point:

Charlie Haddad, who got punched by Ron Artest (and later side-punched by Jermaine O'Neal) after Ron returned to the court from the stand once said (prior to the brawl) that he would pour a beer on Yao Ming's head.

    Reference:http://www.scribd.com/doc/2702580/Haddad-v-Indiana-Pacers-et-al-Document-No-49

While Artest didn't really have any knowledge about that, he surely did some justice to his future team mate and taught that guy a lesson in a hard way. :p

10 mil still seems high. Let's see what Hedo is making first because this guy does not deserve to be getting as much as he wants. He's not that great.

I think we could win 6 straight rings with that roster, No joke.

If you replaced Tracy with Captain Jack, C-Magg, and Ronny, we would win 79 games. Risk worth taking imo...

I don't know why but that lineup reminds me of a cheap knock off version of the Pacers from the 90's. That team really didn't go places..

I think you guys missed Artest's point on that video.

He is telling Morey he would like to stay with Houston and wish Rockets would offer him a deal, or a better deal if one already presented.

second, he is not telling the pistons but to the whole NBA. He is stating that if he needs to be playing for even the pistons he would do it with no bad blood. He is trying to tell the GMs that Artest is a new man and he willing to even play for a team that 99% of the people don't think he would. (obiously Pistons wouldn't want Artest as they have to worry about ticket sales)

So by stating that Artest is hoping to generate some noise with perhap getting an offer or two from other teams in order to push Morey along.

As we saw what happened to Landry's case. Morey is a very patient and wise dude. He has probably made a fair offer given the economy we are in and waiting to see if there will be any pursuer out there. if so, then Morey will wait and see what other teams are offering to Artest in order ro get a "real-time" value of Artest's market value.

One of 3 things will happen.
    1. Artest gets no offer and would have to take Morey's fair offer ( i doubt artest would sit out as Morey doesn't seem like someone who would make low ball offers, beside where is spreewell now?)

    2. some teams required about Artest and offered him a big contract where Rockets either match or offer better deal.

    3. some teams asked Rockets to sign and trade with them.

You can't downplay the logic of a guy whose proof-point that he is good in Detroit is that he has a Detroit Tigers hat and a New York Mets hat.

I love Ron, but I would take Ariza or Hedo before him. Maybe it's me, but I think his market value should be below Ariza's or Hedo's.

Give them Artest in exchange for Hamilton. Fair deal Rockets get their midrange shooter who is effective without the ball and detroit gets what they want.

    what do they want?
I think Detroit wants to rebuild why they want Artest? If they want to get rid of Rip's contract they would rather get TMac.

You guys say what you want about Artest, but what I like about him most is that he confronts his issues head on. He doesn't run or hide, he hits it head on and never lacks confidence in himself.

He is doing just that, putting pressure on Morey and letting everyone know it's all behind him, he's past that and the door is open.

Whatever happens I'd like to see him in a Rockets Jersey.

How could you put Ariza and Hedo on the same level?

Ariza is more athletic and has more upside then artest at this point in artest career.Hedo is a better ball handler taller and is just a overall better offensive player then artest is also.I would take either one over artest without blinking.

there is not a snowball's chance in hell morey would make a trade that got back captain jack. he's smarter than that. jackson is a guy who has been a mediocre at best player (with a decent right hook) his entire career, and who only scores 20 a game by taking tons of shots (17 a game last year) and relying on a system like golden state's whose pace inflates everyone's numbers. the man has to dominate the ball to be functional...and then there's his defense.

They may not be on the same level, but I could see some teams would pick Ariza over Hedo if you have players like Kobe, Wade, Roy, ....

Anyway, for the same amount of money, I would take either of them over Artest. That's my point.

Agree with you except with this part. DM does make lowball offers. Look up the threads when Landry was about to be re-signed. His agent was going ballistic because DM was giving him ridiculously low offers (probably the vet min lol). Or do you actually think Scola and Landry's true value are only worth 3 million each?

I dont like the tone of it almost as if he is marketing himmself
yet i think even if he doesnt sign we have big cap under our belt
8.5 from artest and cook 4.5

i say if artest over prices himself
we sign gordon and trade tracy mcgrady and scola and cash
4 amare .. this trade totally make sense .. to me artest deserves
7-9 mil not more . he had one of his best season in houston displanewise
and in stability .. if he doesnt take what we offer .. trust me its his loss !!
