I would say Pargo is better he is more unselfish, more explosive and pargo is also a better playmaker, but that's just my opinion take it or leave it.

He's gotta prove it though. The stats don't really back it up. And since I brought up stats, I know you will like to bring up the 40% FG shooting. Thats obviously the weak spot in his game. And you have to think if he can beat out Steve Francis and Mike James for a starting job shooting 40% then he HAS to have some element to his game that helps us win.

I like the idea, but why not get outlaw also? Frye and Outlaw for Battier sounds resonable maybe. They would have to drop in head probably and let landry walk.

    You're right it works.

    I love it.

To complete the team for training camp, I would like to get Sam I Am to come in as Rafer's backup.

    Yao/Frye/Deke
    Scola/Landry/Hayes
    Artest/Outlaw
    McGrady/Barry
    Alston/Sam/Brooks

Rotation would break down like this

    Yao 30 mpg
    Frye 18 mpg

    Scola 30
    Landry 16
    Hayes 4

    Artest 32
    Outlaw 12

    McGrady 30
    Barry 22

    Alston 32
    Cassell 10
    Brooks 2

We would have an incredible starting 5, but the 2-deep of Frye/Landry/Outlaw/Barry/Cassell might be the best in the West.

I love what Shane brings to the team, but the acquisition of Ron makes him completely expendable. Just like the return of Oden makes Frye completely expendable to the Blazers.

Why not exchange our luxuries for glaring needs?

In addition, bringing in Outlaw gives you a replacement for Shane in the rotation as the backup wingman for Tmac and Artest. He's not the player Battier is, but he is incredibly athletic, which Shane is not and which we lack.

If Tracy or Artest went down, Outlaw could step in as a starter for 10-20 games and the team should not crumble. Besides, it's not like Shane could save the team if Tmac was out for half the season.

But I do believe getting a backup like Frye for Yao could save the Rockets season. Missing that post scoring would be a huge blow, but having a guy who can be a decent player for 30 mpg with the size and athleticism of Frye still gives us an average starter at the position with the greatest dearth of talent in the league.

Getting by with guys like Scola, Hayes and Landry at center can get you by for a game here or there, but over the course of a season those undersized guys are such a liability against rebounding and interior defense that it could have a significant impact on the team.

3-card Morey, pull another Ace from your sleeve.

The title is there for the taking.

I heard Artest was going to play 4. I would rather put him at Shane's place and put Shane at 4. Anyways, I hope Scola and Landry(If he returns) get some considerate pt so they can continue and develop.

People who would trade Battier for Frye are utterly clueless.

Milos- Its hypothetical and I don't think the brass want to shake the squad up anymore. I don't see barry playing more than 15mins a night. When I mentioned Frye and outlaw for battier, if that was to happen, frye would be the dual backup for yao and scola and landry would walk. Frye would play 16 mins behind yao and 14 mins behind scola. Outlaw would function much the same with him relieving artest for 14 mins and 15 mins from tracy which means barry is scraping the bottom for minutes maybe at pg spot. I would make the deal, but I doubt houston will.

I am not saying trade Battier, but Ben Gordon announced he has played his final game in a Bulls uniform. Seeing as I am a rookie and can not start my own threads yet I was wondering what you guys thought of Ben on this team. Again, I am not saying trade Shane for him, but is there any scenario or player that you would give up for Gordon that would be realistic. I know we don't need his scoring but his 3 ball would really open things up for our other guys and he's straight filth from the line. Would anyone be open to doing a S&T to get him? He would def be a one year rental, but may be worth it if he could be had on the cheap seeing as everyone really wants that ring this year. I could definitely see him adhering to whatever role we would give him since he would be playing for a contract and that resume would look mighty fine with NBA Champion on it. Then again, maybe he wants to go somewhere awful and try to score 28 a night.

I know this isn't really the thread for it. I just wanted to gauge how open you all would be about it.

Not for more a few minutes at best, even less likely than that. Leave him to guard 2 and 3's.

I admire his scoring and athletic ability but he doesn't give any defense and lacks height. The Rockets don't have anything significant to offer the Bulls for him anyway.

Battier is Artest-going-crazy insurance. He is a perfect complimentary player for Yao and McGrady on offense and busts his ass on defense every night. Even if Artest blossoms with the team, I wouldn't trade Battier unless he was part of a package obtaining a quality point guard. The Rockets don't need depth.

I don't think we get Ben Gordon or Kirk Hinrich on this team this year because both players contracts are too large or they won't it to be too large. I doubt we do a trade with Chicago that would have to include Battier to get one of them. I don't want us to trade Battier for any other point guard that might be on the trading block that is not named AI, maybe, maybe Barbosa.

It is a shame that we lost an opportunity on Pargo. Hopefully we are considering Delonte West or a serious run at Barbosa if Phoenix is still open to trading for him.

Hopefully we won't trade Battier at all and only use Hayes, Head, Harris, Ewing, Singletary and/or Brooks as our trading chips, while resigning Landry and Deke. I think other teams know this and may not want to trade with the Rockets even on a deal that makes sense because they may not want to help make us too strong now. I'm sure Morey's job is getting harder with the rest of the GM's recognizing what type of team he is putting together after the Artest trade.
