But the team isn't looking to Artest as their example. Artest is right that, as the leader, McGrady sets the bar with his effort. If McGrady really emphasizes defense, probably the whole team will. If Artest does it, the team will be happy about it but won't necessarily follow suit. But, Artest should probably stop talking to the media. He says a bunch of stuff that is not wise.
It is nothing new, but I don't like that. If Artest was doing ok, but damn, he is way worse than T-Mac right now. T-Mac, of course he needs to step up on defense (offense as well, especially in the 4th's). He needs to pay attention, his man can't get by him with no problems...come on. But how on the Earth Ron couls say that? I mean the guy has been TERRIBLE on offense, and excuse me, his defense SUCKS as well...
I'm so tired of hearing this follow the leader garbage. These are grown men and professional athletes. Pay me half of what the lowest paid player on the team makes and I'll play defense by myself while they stand and watch me. If I'm making millions to play a sport I don't need for some other player to "lead" me into doing the things that I'm getting paid to do. How about each player do their job and let the rest fall into place.
Tmac can try to "act" like he's atleast trying to play defense by getting in a LOWER stance! You can always tell when he's actually guarding someone with a purpose or not, because (before he was injured) he's a pretty damn good defender when he actually tries and get into a low defensive stance. Tmac please please please act like you care on defense. You suck on offense right now so atleast make it look like you're trying in other facets of the game
I don't think that either one of them should be calling each other out to the media since they're both playing with a nagging injury. I sure would like to know what kind of W-L record the Rockets would be having right now if neither one of them were dealing with their nagging injuries respectively.
That's tru what ron said. Its starts with Tracy because if the other see him playing hard and playing defense, everyone else has to. That's why the suns sucked on defense because the coach just let steve nash not even try. That's why the spurs have been so good defensively becase Duncan plas defense and gives effort. McGrady should be and could be the best defender on this team. He has shown it in the past by locking down Dirk, stackhouse or whomever else he decides to shut down. When the best player doesn't play hard or try, it trickles down and now the soldiers are out of line.
I realize what Artest said about McGrady's defense is true but I don't think he should have singled Tracy out publicly like that. Not when he got off the bench in Memphis playing one-on-one and firing blanks again. As bad as McGrady's perimeter defense has been this year ... Artest has been an equal disappointment on the offensive side of the ball.
Artest may be the only rocket man,At least other players just quietly put up a resistance, He has the right to give up their own defense, so that their own groups to deal with 4 people 5 enemies Let him concentrate on their own data in order to improve the face of outside criticism, while the data on the role of invisible to the defensive team That is why his team played one bad game, because his ideas, his teammates have to go farther and farther away from him
Wow T-mac has a few decent scoring games and everyones defending him now... I hope this is true. Tracy's defense is TERRIBLE. He jogs to close out on his man on jumpers. He is terrible when it comes to shading over the top on pick and roll situations. He is terrible at rotation when the ball is moved quickly after a double team. Luol Deng killed us the other day because Tmac would not close out hard. T-mac.... STEP YOUR DEFENSE UP!
so who has been good? ron has been one of the better ones on the team acting as if tmac locks his guy down on the daily.
i guess with a max contract you typically ask for a player to do things hopefully leading the team in it, no?
He was brought here to be our 3rd scorer and right now he looks lost on O. It looks so ugly when he puts the ball on the floor. But hey maybe its Tracy fault for him shooting 1-10 the other night.
I didnt want to start a thread here but why is McGrady struggling in the 4th quarter so much lately? He has been playing great the first 3 quarters but the 4th just hasnt been there for him. Is he just getting into shape or does he sit out too long and become stiff, I dont know.
First three performed well, but detached from the team, the individual's outstanding performance and did not let the leading score in the fourth quarter before the beginning of Rockets let him give other players the excellent performance of the worst, and lost fluid attack, lost their defensive, and finally lost its victory
