Was listening to the soundbites on 610 sports radio. They gave the soundbite of Artest. They asked him how the Rockets could step up the "d" .
Ron said Tracy needs to step up his defense and it starts with him..

    Way to go RON!

um, Ron hasnt exactly been good on D himself....He's hurting this team on both ends for the court right now.

    Hopefully T-mac listens.

But T-mac isn't the only one who needs to step up on D.

All of his reaching and causing his man to get by him breaks down the defense as well. Both of them suck on D right now. Hell, the whole team sucks on D right now.

Tracy definitely needs to step it up on D, but at the sametime Rons D hasnt been too great as of late.

Wow, is it true or just fabricated? I can't believe Ron has called out Tmac publicly like that.

Ron has balls, a tru warier.

True dat ya'll it's the team as a whole, but it starts with our stars and trickles down to everyone else.

Good for him. And I agree. It all starts with T-Mac. Lead by example. Bring the D back like in your Toronto days.

I dont know if he "called him out", but Artest said that its Tmac's knee that makes him inconsistant and as his knee gets better then the defense from tracy should get better

I dont think thats a call out. But it does seem like the general opinion of this board is that Artest's D sucks too. That along with his offense isnt exactly helping the team win consistently.

IF true what a move by Ron. In a fight I would pick Ron over TMac. It would be a bloody mess.

QFT Ron. Tmac can be a great defender because he's very capable. He just lacks the effort. I think if Tracy steps it up others will play harder on D too.

There must be a reason that Ron shot 50% 3pts whenever Tmac was out and 3-20 3pts since Newyorks when Tmac was back

It's hilarious how people get behind Ron. Not saying that TMac doesn't need to be called out (his defensive effort against Memphis was ridiculous), but it's time Ron took a long look in the mirror. He's nowhere near the defensive player he was, and he's killing the team on both ends of the court. It may look great when he dives on the ground or chases someone around (Mayo) after Mayo lit his ass up the entire game, but he has been a major let down. Nobody on this team gets a pass anymore IMO. Artest is one of the last guys who should be calling people out.

I heard it. It wasn't really calling him out like someone posted earlier. He was saying that as he gets healthier it will get better. It the same time the D sucks as a team right now. Everyone has been getting burned. Rotations are slow. Pick-n-rolls have been killing them. It is much more then one guy. They need to come together as a team instead of talking through the media. If you are going to give me Kobe/Shaq drama then you better bring a title to go with it.

How about he responds by taking it as constructive criticism and putting his team ahead of his own ego?

McGrady's become an easy person for everyone to speak out on. The complete sound bite was McGrady's knees been giving him problems but it starts with him picking up his defense, like how it starts with the Jordans & Birds & Kobes of their teams (Artest adding in himself in Sacramento), the best player sets the tone then everything from there falls into place.

Its noteworthy cuz you know the 3rd and 4th option guys on their teams whether they're scared or whatever reason wont ever call out Kobe & Lebron & D Wade by name. But it wouldnt be that newsworthy either if for instance Paul Pierce was injured and struggling and Ray Allen says Pierce needs to improve his D.
