Frankly Artest may be a maverick and sure that Detroit incident was bone headed- but I am sure he has learnt from that. IF we are going to do this deal we will give up Luther for sure- and perhaps have to take Croshere's contract back.

WOW- a Bruce Bown type of Defender, who can be a legit third option- basketball wise it would be dumb not to do the deal! The rockets do not have the finacial flexibility to do anything more significant.

Frankly Vernon got his nickname before we made the run, and then he really started believing that was who he was!

If CD pulls off this trade without trading Yao or T-Mac, he will be a god damn genius. I just see Indiana trading intra conference for an impact player comparable to Artest (Chicago, New York, Boston, Atlanta) than settling for less and trading outside of the conference.

I shudder to think of an unhappy Artest in a Rox uni but the way things have been going maybe we need to make a bold move like this.

Nah man. Take chances. We have all finesse players on the Rockets right now. Artest is tough, Van Gundy type of rugged player that would fit this team well. If he becomes a distraction, that's just the way it goes. Go for it.

but lets not forget that one of his main reasons for requesting to be traded was because he didn't have a big enough role in the indy offense. if he did become a rocket, he would of course be our number one option at first due to the vast amount of injuries but what happens when Yao and T-Mac return?? and does anyone know how many years are left on his contact

...Like things aren't screwed up already with that big ballin 12-22 record? Things seriously cannot get worse. It's not like the chemistry is all that great like last season's. Bring him in and take a chance. Gotta have balls.

When is Artest's current contract up? Even though lately he has resigned himself to playing the cooperative role, we know he wants to play in New York or somewhere on the East Coast. He'd probably just bolt on us as soon as he could.

Even though I don't like the guy, and I really think getting him would be the wrong move, I wouldn't curse the Rockets for doing it. We obviously could use his talent. This would make us a very interesting team from here on out.

Again, what do we have going this season that Artest can screw up. I still wonder if Atlanta would be interested in alston, either of our Euro players, cap, and picks to get harrington to Indiana?

    How about Artest to Houston,
    Head & Swift to Atlanta,
    and Al Harrington to Indy?

Atlanta might be more open to that than the Watson and Nene package from Denver that they apparently declined.

Didn't Atlanta pursue Swift in the offseason?

Some draft picks could be shuffled around to keep everyone happy.

Forget it, the guy is one 30 second moment from going T.O. on us.

I'm not so sure this is a great idea. I would have been ecstatic landing Artest two weeks ago, but I'm not so sure at this point, with as big a hole as we've dug for ourselves.

If you think it's mathematically possible to make the playoffs this year, factoring in the likelihood of McGrady going down for more stretches, then you make this deal. I'm not so sure this season can be revived, though. Trading for Ron Artest isn't a long term move. If you don't have a shot at the championship this year, you shouldn't trade for him, because it's likely he won't be around next year.

    Swift Alston pick to Atlanta
Head Harrington Moochie Wesley to Indy
    Artest Croshere to Houston

Artest has two years remaining on his deal.

If we get Artest and he goes Section 8 on the Rockets (Coaches, Team and Management)...

I don't want to hear any B_ _ _ _ _ N from anyone on this board who wanted to get Artest...

Be a man and suck it up...

    Shh... not 1 word...

On the plus side, there's always a chance than Ron could punch Mark Cuban. We have to take that chance.

i really hope artest comes here. then finally we will have that 3rd reliable option in scoring but still not a liability on defense! artest is a build guy thats wat we need down in the paint with yao.

and to everyone who thinks this is a risk and it will screw things up..please get a clue..we are 10 down under .500, injuries left and right (which i think is just a excuse for our pathetic record) we need serious help. we cant win 1 game without tmac whose back is hanging on a thin wire. i am begging someone to make a damn deal with anyone.
