My issue with BSG was that the middle of the show seemed to be dragging its feet. Not a lot resolved, not much interesting in each episode. I also didn't like a lot of the twists they took us down.

4 tiers, for me, all based on personal faves:

    The Office
    The Office UK
    Psych
    Arrested Development
    Cheers

    All in the Family
    Parks & Recreation
    I Love Lucy
    Three's Company

    Curb
    30 Rock

    Seinfeld
    It's Always Sunny

I did not say they were (Seinfeld and Newsradio are tied for my all-time favorite show), they are definitely a step ahead of the others. I just said that Curb and Sunny were better than AD.

When is Sunny off? I can't think of an episode where I didn't laugh my ass off. I am just curious because all the episodes seem to be pretty similar and consistent imo. I couldn't tell you a best or a worst episode.

how do you quantify subjective tastes in television programming?

my favorite comedies listed here are 30 Rock, Curb, Arrested Development, Seinfeld, and The Office, which for me has fallen greatly.

I have missed out on other shows but look forward to watching some recommended here, such as Sunny in Philadelphia.

I thought the last season of BSG was the best. The cliffhanger midway through the season was brilliant (imo). And then the final 6 episodes after that were the most intense episodes of the entire series.

On a related note, anyone watching Caprica? Is it any good?

I'm watching Stargate Universe.. and I think this show is pretty much like BSG (intensity and also story).

Caprica is pretty good but very different from BSG, its just a different type of show.

I thought several of the episodes from the middle of season 4 were not as good as the rest of the series. But that's just my subjective take.

Love both shows and own all seasons on dvd (Idk if that proves anything, but fwiw...)

BSG is a great show. I did grow tired of some episodes/storylines, but overall it is a great show, and I definitely recommend finishing it off.

Arrested Development is hilarious. I agree with another poster, that you either get it or don't, i.e. think it's hilarious, or stupid. I mean, all the characters are funny. Gob, GM, Michael, Buster, Tobias...

No Fresh Prince, moes? That's definitely a tier 1 for me.

McGrady, you need to hop on the Dexter bandwagon!

I've watched Dexter seasons 1 and 2... didn't have a "wow" factor at all... the actor for the lead character sucks balls

Well my question is this, are season 3 and onwards better than the first two seasons? cause the first two seasons felt too repetitive and not that exciting. i want to be wow'ed like i was with Lost, 24, BSG... with badass mysterious characters, etc.

You don't like Six Feet Under and Dexter. If there is any show in the history of the world that is repetitive, that would be 24. I think perhaps it is you that sucks balls, not the other way around.

I just started Six Feet Under, its not that i don't like it.. i haven't watched enough episodes yet. and plus, maybe me watching true blood has affected my judgment on this show.. cause it feels like the same show.

Dude.. the first two seasons of dexter sucks. maybe it got better because i recall years ago the show wasn't even that popular.

24 gets repetitive after some seasons but it is one of the best shows ever.

I'd say that it was because the same people that did SFU also did TB but personally I don't see it. Six Feet Under was great, great TV. I haven't watched it in a while and don't know how it stands up to time but I can't imagine it sucking. It's only been off the air for maybe 5 years.

Dexter was popular from Season 1. I haven't seen anything past Season 2 because of my schedule but I definitely plan on watching more when I get some time.

The first couple of seasons were great because they were so different but it is not even close to one of the best shows ever in my opinion. Its decline was sharp and fast. The wife and I tried watching season 4 - 6 and basically gave up on it mid season because of how absolutely horrible it became.
