He was on the base as a soldier wasn't he? Couldn't a detective open fire in his own precinct if he wanted to? Does that make them vulnerable?
For fighting two stupid wars. Also if this guy had said something about suicide and stuff they should have been watching him. he was a shrink and he probably heard stories and wanted no part of IRAQ. You make a man desperate no telling what he will do. Thats why in general it is not good for a society to have a few rich people and a lot of poor people. Cause eventually the poor people will get pissed of and start axing the rich people.
I think it is more than just that although you do have a point there. The military culture itself makes the extremists even more rabid in their hatred and militancy because of what the job entails. So while most racists and sexists would probably keep to themselves in the real world, soldiers who are racists or sexist have no qualms whatsoever about expressing those views and harassing whomever happens to be in sight. The negative aspects of military culture are well documented and most people pay it lip service acknowledging that something needs to be done about it, but not much has actually been done to address these problems. We know that pretty much every single woman in the military has been either harassed or sexually assaulted by her fellow soldiers. The macho, over the top nationalist culture is at the root of these problems.
So turns out the dude was a life-long Muslim with a history of "loner" behavior, and may or may not have equated suicide bombings to dying in the line of duty. Shouldn't be too much of an issue I suppose.
You don't know if I am rich or poor, but my point is if you make a man desperate he will do desperate things. I am surprised soldiers don't go awol more often. I think the rate during the vietnam war was much higher.
This is a terrible thing, but it sounds like a very strange, isolated, incident. This guy was apparently a doctor who specialized in mental health.
call me crazy but I think his religon had nothing to do with this.... sounds like a pissed off guy that didn't want to get deployed overseas
ahhhh i knew some liberal was going to pull this argument and blame GW somehow.. For your information this scumbag never got deployed in his life and never ever been stationed anywhere outside of the US
Perhaps you should spend less time following the party lines on the war. The Iraq war is not "another Vietnam". For starters, this is a volunteer war in which a solider can get out if he REALLY wants to. Second, the casualty rate is much much lower.
glad to see your only reason for posting this thread was to pick a fight with a liberal. keep it douchey.
