According to NBAtalk, through various newspapers, the Toronto Raptors are thinking about trading Tracey McGrady to Orlando for Darrel Armstrong. Now my question is, with no disrespect to Armstrong, can we offer something better than that? I know the Raptors are looking for a PG. But to trade away a young and rising start who can play multiple positions, I don't know. It is my opinion that we should jump on this and up the Magic offer. Question is would you willing to be parting with Mobley?
Not unless we can produce a point guard with fire, pizzaz, hops, future, who loves just to play the game and has a comparable low price tag (approx $2-3M), but who can be coached into playing someone else's (Carter's) game, and will play in a fun but foreign country without b****ing or moaning about the cold, the taxes, the accents, the lack of crime, the lack of watered-down beer ... all that but still someone who will not miss the latest news program shoving .... "Entertainment Tonight"/"Current Affair"/"Pokeman"/"Donald Trump & Marla"/ "Pamela & Tommy's Video" .... down your throat every night .... because that is what it will take to get McGrady from Toronto. Choices: 1. 2. 3. Sorry can't think of anyone. The only guys that come to mind already play in Canada. [This message has been edited by popeye (edited December 17, 1999).]
I don't think Orlando has offered Armstrong yet. If they did, I'm sure Toronto would have snatched it up. Armstrong is a great player. He'd be a better offer than Mobley and I'd rather have him than McGrady too.
Mobley has the ugliest look on his face after he scores on someone. He hasn't done enough in this league for that cocky attitude. He may be a better player one day, but I would trade Mobley for McGrady.
IN A HEARTBEAT, I would trade Mobley, Mack, Williams, almost anyone outside of Dream and Francis to get McGrady. From a biz stand point, I would only trade Mobley, if they would go for it, because both of their contracts are up this year. DaDakota
If they're looking for a PG, would they be interested at all in Drew? I know he's not as good as Armstrong, but could we pair him up with a nonlottery pick or Thomas to get McGrady? From what I've heard and seen of McGrady, he seems like he would fit in well with the Rockets. If they don't like Drew (which would not be a surprise), I would be willing to give them Mobley, but why would Toronto have any better luck signing Mobley, especially with Carter at SG?
