Reduce legal guns and there will be fewer illegal gun transactions. Right now it takes almost no effort to illegally get a gun. Break into a few cars in the South and odds are you'll find at least one. Or go the really safe route and just buy it from an individual who doesn't realize you aren't qualified to purchase a gun. Our gun culture is the #1 problem, but it isn't going away.

I think this is a good point about the prohibition of a single (or small number of) specific class of firearms. Alternatives exist for criminals. But if the government were to similarly prohibit a large number (or all) classes of firearms, wouldn't that lead to a kind of Kyber Pass cottage industry type of illicit gun manufacturing? on a large scale? kind of like meth labs, only with guns. I also think it would motivate gun enthusiasts to take up machining in a big way. Or purchase CNC machines.

This shooter would have killed many, many more people if all those folks there hadn't had their guns. 3. To the idiots saying, "oh this guy was a CCL instructor" - yep, and if he didn't stop the shooter, the other 4 gun-carrying members would have. So your point is wrong. 4. To the idiots saying "remove all the guns!" What fantasy world do you live in? There is absolutely zero chance that happens. There are as many guns in the US as people. That genie has been out of the bottle for 75+ years. An effective piece of the solution is to ensure the good guys can have access to guns.

No, they often chose targets they are affiliated with. I doubt "gun free zone" has anything to do with it. Mainly becauss "gun free zone" doesn't mean no guns as that sign only applies to civilians. School officers have firearms on them. In fact there is a higher chance that a public high school has someone in the premises armed than someone at a grocery store because there is usually one on duty armed officer at these schools.

At the churches that I attend the individuals that carry firearms are Law enforcement officers and COMBAT military individuals.. 3) To calling individuals idiots for saying that the other members would have got him... Well that's not necessarily true and i'm glad we ant have to find out. Just because an individual has a CHL does not mean they can handle a live situation.... Just because an individual has been trained to shoot, does not mean they will act the same during a live situation... Targets don't shoot back.... It is. More surprising to me than the fact that someone decided to shoot up a church. Apparently they had a ballot measure to change it a few years back, and the town overwhelmingly refused to rename itself.
