The only rifle I own is an AR, it doesn't get fired in the yard too often. I can never get used to how damn loud it is. But if a hog wonders over I'm taking it down.
Add a 22 savage bolt action to the mix for 200 bucks. Already has a threaded barrel for a can and you can be a silent backyard assassin.
AWC Amphibian .22 LR w/intigral supressor Makes about as much noise as a bb guun. You could fire off 1000 rounds in your back yard and your neighbors wouldn't even know. Heck, the Armadillo wouldn't even notice until you hit him. Including ATF tax, costs about as much as a decent AR.
So.........worse scope options, not as accurate, cannot move to any other gun and only $1000 more than a bolt action savage with a GM-22. Brilliant advice.
If you need quiet, nothing will match it. There is a reason that it is issued to Navy SEALs and Savage bolt action rifles with GM-22's aren'tt. You can get a savage bolt action with a supressor for something like $200-$300?
loved these commercials growing up To catch it get a trap and some boards 2 x 6. Take the boards and make a funnel leading to the trap. This is what a neighbor did and it worked for him. Problem is they moved and I do not know what he used as bait. You can try a Lone Star.
An autoloading handgun will never be as quiet as a bolt action rifle. I don't see how can put more quiet as it's attribute, what are you basing that on? I looked at MSRP at 1699, are you saying some discount makes it only $800 more(ie more than double the price)?
If it's in the backyard, buy a dog. If it's in the front, build a fence around the front and buy a dog. Problem solved. But don't get a b*tch ass dog. Armadillos are known to mount those types of dogs.
Remove their food source and they will move on....just put down some grub killer and it should fix your problem. DD
When you're doing something as awesome as a flower bed project, you gotta take the good with the bad.
On second thought, I think I want to thank those damn armadillo. They did a great job of loosening the soil and turning over last years mulch. Made my yearly refresh way easier. Even though I was a few months late. Thank you armadillo. But you're still toast if I catch you.
