exactly, Indy and cold weather spots are one time deals as a reward for building a new stadium.

They want nice weather leading up to the game so they can play golf, have parties, etc.

And they want everything close together - hotels, convention centers, stadiums

If I'm not mistaken, Dolphin Stadium in Miami isn't surrounded by hotels.

Houston WILL get another Super Bowl...it just won't be as often as they like.

There used to be a time when it was a 1-week rest, then next year a 2-week rest, alternating, etc., event. I wonder if it will ever go back to that at all . Does anyone remember that?

I think 2002 was the last time we ever had ONE WEEK between Conference Championships and Super Bowl... I wonder what determined that... maybe 'cuz there were less byes and the Houston Texans weren't there?

i think the fact that Miami is a destination city, anyway, makes up for it.

let's be clear....arlington, texas is NOT miami.

For a short while the NFL gave every team two bye weeks and in return made the Super Bowl the week after the conference championship games. Since just about everyone hated having both two bye weeks and only one week before the SB, they went back to how it was before...

Check out some of these prices:

    http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/sh...wboys-Stadium-will-offer-90-pi?urn=nfl,180810

The colossal new Dallas Cowboys Stadium is living proof that everything is bigger in Texas. The menu in the luxury suites proves that things there are more expensive too.

Those enjoying a Cowboys game from a luxury suite at the new stadium will have to shell out $90 for pizza and $66 for a 12-pack of domestic beer, reports Steven Sipple of the Lincoln Journal World. Ninety bucks for pizza? That's almost as much of a rip-off as Roy Williams.

It costs $800,000 per year to lease one of those luxury suites, a hefty sum that doesn't include game tickets. On the bright side, the stadium's official Web site says that "having your company's name on a suite makes an important statement about your success" and can help make an impression on clients. (Namely that they're paying you way too much money.)

As for the $90 pizza, that's the cost for a plain pizza. No word on how much each topping costs but, suffice it to say, if you're a fan of pepperoni you may want to consider refinancing your mortgage before you head down to watch the Cowboys.

Apparently, Jerry Jones is in SA touting the ticket prices for the common man... $29. Not bad for an NFL game...except when you consider that they're standing room only for that price.

$90 for a pizza, $66 for a 12 pack of domestic? WTF? If I ever go to the Cowboys stadium I'm smuggling in my own food.

Ouch!!! :D Probably could have had Boldin for the same price.

Never have been a huge JJ fan for the way he did Tom Landry but my hatred faded after a few superbowl wins.

I do think the new stadium is awesome looking but I'll miss Texas Stadium.

With the way all the little cities in the Metroplex are getting their own little action from the Super Bowl, the NFL will never go back. Everything is so spread out. In Houston, it was all around the Inner Loop (except the Panthers stayed in Greenspoint unfortunately).

I don't drink alkeehawl, so what's the average beer price for a stadium? Also, are these prices for the luxury suites only (as opposed to "for the common man")? How much does a slice of pizza generally cost at most stadiums?

From what I recall, around $7 for a 16 oz. beer, so on those #'s it would be $63 for a 12 pack.

Yeah...crazy as it sounds, the beer price didn't seem out of line.

Can't figure the $90/pizza though. $11.25 a slice? Seems high.

I think most lux boxes do this. It's the $800K annual lease (plus tickets) that's insane. You can bet most those leases are public companies, because few private enterprises would treat themselves to such lavishness.

Yeah, I was thinking the beer prices weren't overly nuts, but couldn't figure out the pizza price, either. That being said, if you multiply what you usually pay for beer or heck, pretty much any vendor food at sporting events by the usual unit of purchase at a grocery store, you'll see the prices you're spending are nuts. And that's not just in Arlington. The other thing I wasn't sure of was if the prices were higher because they are in the luxury suites - does the casual fan in a seat pay the same prices? I have no idea. The $800,000 seems steep, but I think they get to advertise who they are in the suite or something, don't they? I don't know. I never figured out how that marketing stuff works. I can't remember the last time I ever ran out and bought Goodyear tires because I saw an ad for Goodyear tires. Hell, I've only bought Goodyear tires once in my life, I think. But I'll leave that to people who know more about marketing and advertising than I do.

You said "Goodyear tires" 3 times in that post alone. Can't say advertising doesn't work...

I already bought a few of those $29 standing room only tickets for the Monday night game against the Panthers. With that price I don't mind spending $75 for parking and whatever beers/food cost. The concourses are huge and there are actually 6 "party decks" you can view the game from. It should be a great experience, and with those huge LED screens I'm really not going to miss being on my couch.
