I hope you're right, but I just have a feeling you're wrong (about dallas not getting multiple Superbowls). Granted, I don't keep up with dallas politics because...well, it's dallas so who cares?

Oddly enough, I think that has more to do with the rodeo than the Texans.

The dome was a baseball stadium, too, of course. It was hosting baseball only for 3 years after the Oilers left, right? It didn't matter...it was surrounded by parking lots. There is/was no pedestrian traffic of note.

I'm so with you on the development around MMP. But that development alone is more significant than 40 years of what was developed around the massive parking lot surrounding the Astrodome. I can't think of one sports bar that surrounded the Astrodome...and even if I could, it wouldn't matter anyway...because you paid to park and you walked in...and when the game was over you walked right back out to your car.

The reason Bud wanted so badly for the Rox to be involved in his Bud Dome was that he could actually attempt to sell economic impact with that....he couldn't do that with a football stadium. People drive up to NFL games...tailgate...walk in to the game....maybe tailgate after...and then drive home. And if you're familiar with the area around this new football stadium in Arlington, it's very similar to what we're used to here....huge parking lots as far as the eye can see. That's one of my biggest criticisms of the Ballpark at Arlington...you built an urban park out in the middle of nothing but parking lots. Whatever foot traffic it generates is spent entirely walking through parking lots.

According to the Weather Channel, Dallas avg high/low in February is 61F/41F. It's about the same for Houston as well. Keep digging yourself a deeper and deeper hole. :)

You must have been born in the jungles of the Amazon if you think that qualifies you as a cold weather city. Like Pittsburgh, D.C., Boston, the Meadowlands, etc. etc.

No one thinks of Dallas as a cold weather city.

You're much more likely to have icy winter weather in Dallas in late January than you are in Houston, Miami, New Orleans or San Diego.

If that happens while hosting a Super Bowl, they're not going back.

It happened in Atlanta. Are they planning on hosting any more Super Bowls at the Georgia Dome?

Yes, because ****ing living here for 12 years hasn't given me any insight at all into the ****ing weather here where I ****ing live. Jackhole.

Hi there. The average temperature in February includes both early February (when the Super Bowl is) and late February when it is, in my ****ing experience, jack****inghole****head, a little bit warmer.

So go suck your ****ing **** out your ******* ass, jackhole!

According to the NOAA, the average daily temps for February :

    Houston's daily average February temps

    DFW's daily average February temps

Dallas highs range from 56-64, Houston highs range from 64-70
Dallas lows range from 36-42, Houston lows range from 42-47

There's about a 6-8 degree difference on highs and lows between Dallas and Houston in February.

Normally, I would find this post pretty offensive. But the fact that it's directed at someone who lives in dallas.....well, let's just say I'm willing to look the other way.

Uhhh, no. It was written by someone who lives in Dallas, and hasn't figured out how to leave in the past 12 years.

    Big difference.

My my, you have some serious anger management issues to have taken the personal attack to an 11 as Nigel Tufnel would say.

Hope you enjoy your ban, Dallas-ite! :)

then why are you being the expert on dallas weather? I would think he would know better if that is the case (plus I think he's right also, its cold that time of the year up there, plenty of ice storms)

My point was this, (which is completely flying over everybody's heads apparently):

    • Houston won't get another Super Bowl again because the new Dallas stadium seats 40K more, AND Dallas has a higher profile nationally
    • He says no, look at FedEx field with their capacity. Good point, but being in Washington D.C. is a bigger reason why no Super Bowl there. It's really cold there around Super Bowl time. FedEx field is an outdoor stadium as well.
    • Unless Dallas is as COLD as the Meadowlands, D.C., Foxboro, or anywhere else where it's REALLY cold, then I don't think Dallas has to worry about weather being a factor in getting multiple Super Bowls
    • PLUS, the new Dallas stadium has a retractable roof. All the NFL really cares about is whether the elements factor into the game. Who care's if it's "cold" outside then when the roof is closed?
    • That's why Indianapolis was a finalist for the 2011 Super Bowl. They have a retractable roof stadium

This part isn't right. The Super Bowl is a 2 week event commencing in a game. They care a lot about the weather during those 2 weeks...the media harps on it constantly.

They will go to a location where there's ice and wind once....they won't be a regular, though. There's a reason why San Diego and Miami and New Orleans keep getting Super Bowls. Weather and proximity of all the events to hotels and transportation thereto are huge for the NFL.
