Unfortunately, a lot of teams can take Baylor to the woodshed. (Please turn the team around, Mr. Briles!)
No question. Fran would have won this game. He takes the personnel and designs and offense catered to them. McNeil threw out of a pass heavy spread, McGee was shackled (in a good way) by a fruitful option attack. Is Sherman a better college coach? Probably. If he can recruit the talent to solidify a pro style attack. For some odd reason the guy will not accommodate any form of a spread. He is strictly a pro style guy. Which tells me he may be out of touch with the state of CFB. If you don't have the talent you can't get away with that kind of football. Aggie fans didn't expect anything. There is no talent on the o-line or defense. But c'mon, this was at Kyle. Oh and Sherm would have loved to play Johnson. He doesn't play because he isn't good. McGee/Johnson, pick your poison.
Most of the time when a new coach is brought in, there is an initial drop off until the team adjusts to the new schemes or new talent can be brought in. The reason to get rid of Frannochio isn't about this year's record. It is about the team's record 3 to 4 years from now. Fran had this program circling the proverbial drain. When Sherm got to Aggieland, the cupboard was pretty damned bare.
I'm no Aggie fan..but this is dead-on. I don't think anyone had high expectations for the Aggies this season...they're going through huge transition.
If you didn't see the game, I will clue you in on something. It was PAINFULLY obvious that the O line is inexperienced and not very good. Also, there is a horrible lack of talent defensively except for Bennett.
Justice echo's my views.. Sorry, but A&M is more talented and has better athletes than ASU. This loss looks more like because of what happened over the summer, not because of what didn't happen on the recruiting trail last spring.
Justice is pretty well regarded as a moron. If you want to have your views align with his, that is your business.
1. O-line is all inexperienced versus an Ark St. Defense with 7+ returning starters that gave the Longhorns a scare last year in Austin. 2. You can't blame a coach or talent for 2 missed field goals & 2 fumbles by two players we are supposed to rely on (Goodson & Morrow). 3. When was the last time you saw A&M's Defense really stop anyone? That said, last year TAMU won because they could get every small gain on 2nd/3rd/4th down. Two drives stalled because the Aggies could not: last drive of 1st half and the one where when the Off got to 2 yd line before missing the FG. If J-Lane was injured so badly that he was so winded he could not even carry the ball, they should have figured out some other plays to get those yards that were different than the basic draw/lead runs.
I like how you guys are trying to justify the loss by saying Arky St "hung in" with Texas last year. Is this some kind of moral victory? I watched the entire game last year and not one time did I think that game was in jeopardy. UT didn't exactly have a great O-line (in addition to having a horrible secondary) last year either and they got the job done. A&M didn't. They lost at home to Arkansas State.

Not even joking, every single year. 1st game of the season. Some DB blows coverage for an easy uncontested TD. Clockwork. What was that a tickle blitz by the left side? Tickle blitz.
