until the 27th, huh... may god have mercy on austin, tx for the weekend of sept 26-27-28. Austin City Limits Festival + Texas Football... world record for biggest traffic cluster*****
Im going to that, the rice game the wek earlier Looking forward to Foo Fighters and Gnarls Barkley on sunday!
Yeah...hopefully they're smart and schedule the game during the day. If it's a night game and it ends up letting out the same time 70,000 people are leaving Zilker Park, that could be a bit of a nightmare. As long as the game is in the early afternoon, shouldn't be too big of a problem. The good news is that there will be no hotel rooms for Arkansas fans to stay in. Man, they were everywhere in 2003.
This sucks. I'm in Austin right now, having flown in from San Francisco yesterday on a strategically timed "business trip" with my employer so that I could catch the Horns-Hogs game on Saturday. I was hoping like hell that they could move the game up to Friday or something. This whole cancellation was way too premature, and Gov Perry and DeLoss should've waited until later to make the decision. Anyway, so no Longhorn football this weekend. I'm trying to figure out whether to keep my return flight for Sunday or just head back to SF on Friday instead.
I am an Arkansas fan and they look absolutely terrible this year so far. They let DII Western Illinois take them to the wire and then struggled against Sun Belt foe Monroe. I'd be surprised if the Horns do not thrash the Razorbacks when they do actually play. Arkansas State (my alma mater) is growing on me ever so slightly with these last two wins but I think Southern Mississippi will bring them back down to reality this weekend. We shall see. SirCharlesFan, instead of asking the Texas folks why they are running, you might want to ask the UA folks the same thing.
Yeah, there's a CAT three storm about to hit Texas and instead of trying to keep the roadways clear for evacuees, let's think about Baqui99's plans! GAME ON!
the funny thing is, as bad as that play was and as much as it is remembered (and rightfully so considering we accepted a penalty to make it 3rd and 30 instead of just taking 4th and 15), about 2 or 3 plays later arkansas fumbled and we returned it for a touchdown. so barring us scoring on the first play after the punt, in terms of the outcome of the game, it probably worked out better for us anyway. and as far as vince not playing, i think they should have put him in and mock did have that bad option pitch down at about the 15 that got tipped and recovered by arkansas back at midfield, but as someone already posted his passing numbers were still pretty good and we lost because we gave up 37 points, not because we only scored 27. we just couldn't tackle matt jones. man i hate that game.
you know, as an Arkansas fan, and one that acknowledges the unlikelihood of a Razorbacks victory...the one thing that could be fun about this postponement is if Arkansas somehow upsets Alabama on the 20th, this UT/UA game will get so much more hype than it would this weekend.
