[Arizona Republic] Suns may not match Johnson offer

    As soon as they signed Bell, i knew something was up. If people really think about it, the Suns would be better equipped now even without johnson than with him. He's a good player and all, but he's not a max guy either. Marion has at least been to a couple of all star games and has been 20 and 10 for just about every yr.

    i think they will let Joe johnson go..if they can get michael finley...otherwise..i say they will keep JJ..just my 2cents

    Sorry. I disagree. If the Suns lose JJ and Q and replace them with Bell and Thomas. That is a significant downgrade. I would love nothing more than to see this happen.

    If I am the Suns, I match the JJ offer and then move Marion within a year for picks/young talent to add depth to the roster.

    I agree with TheFreak, a max contract for JJ is outrageous. He had a career year last season playing for a team averaging about 3,052 points per game. If he was on any other team, all his numbers would be about 10% less than they were, and they weren't great to begin with. Having one hot year from behind the arc when his previous high mark was .366 should not get him $70+ million. Whoever ends up with that contract on their books is going to look stupid, like the Knicks giving Allen Houston $100+ million stupid.
