Can we just fcking get a real NHL team here? Fck c'mon!

Sitting here watching the Dynamo, thinking to myself...we have the freaking Dynamo, but we can't have an NHL team? Kidding me? I need more Houston pro sports to rage about.

IMO- Houston and Austin is the play. It would create an instant rivalry and more excitement.

Call the Austin team the Texas (whatever) and they can market to both Austin and San Antonio.

I still like the Ghost Wolves as the Houston name. Homage to a local, unique sub-species that is from Galveston, like the probable owner, Tilman. And it’s a little bit of a flip off to the Coyotes.

4th largest city in the country. No problem supporting the 3 major league teams we already have. This is definitely a 4-sport city. Major sports I mean.

I know virtually nothing about hockey, but....

    I'm willing to learn...

In previous NHL expansion times, Houston was either 10th or below 10th in media market size, which was always the drawback compared to just total population.

Now, they're 6th and still rising. Its bullshit local politics and the NHL being a douchey "Canadians first" club that are the only limiting factors now.

Austin doesn't have the facilities. The Moody Center is too small and UT would never agree to that many events on campus.

It sounds like the Spurs want to build a new arena in downtown San Antonio which could probably host a hockey team, too.

No NHL is one reason Dallas trumps Houston sports-wise.

    Sad reality, but it's true.

The SA-Austin area needs another Big 4 pro team too.

    Texas mayne !!

Dallas is a much bigger media market than Houston. It also snows in Dallas more frequently than Houston. Imo, keep NHL in cold climates. I disagree with Vegas, LA, and Florida NHL teams as well. It was a good thing that the Phoenix team moved to SLC.

It's also hotter on average in Dallas than Houston.

I've never thought Austin could support professional sports. Any professional team would take a back seat to UT sports.

fortunately, the league that is making the money here disagrees with you. Also…Dallas is the #5 media market and Houston is #6…the difference isn’t nearly as massive as you’re making it out to be…but what is true is that Houston is far and away the biggest media market that does not currently have an NHL team, and that’s what matters most to them.

I would maybe accept Apollos…otherwise Aeros is right there and should absolutely be it

The fact Dallas averages 0.5" of snow annually vs Houston's 0.0" has nothing to do with the NHL or sports prowess.

Lissen up, sonny-boy. I did four hard years in DFW and that joint is hot as **** and that’s one of its few redeeming values.

Anyone here who thinks NHL couldn’t make it in Austin hasn’t been paying attention to it the last 10 years.

As for UT sports- not only has UT’s influenced waned as big corporations (money) have flooded in, why would they give two ****s about hockey?

    I like it.

    Houston Apollos.

As a logo concept...make it a rocket launching off a hockey puck or something. Here's an AI concept, I'm sure some professional can do much better.
