Maybe Artest was plan A and Ariza was plan B. Mitch was just taking his time.

Lets hope that the need of the team for a player to take charge late in the game can be fulfilled by Trevor. Morey said that the Rockets needed a player to take over in the 4th quarter. Something Tmac used to do.

Run brooks and Scola P&R for that, don't even look at Ariza's direction.

he did want to stay in LA. but he wanted more than what LA offered. but b/c the lakers found him replaceable, they just then looked to another option (artest) without further negotiating. unfortunately, no other team was going to offer ariza more and we swooped in.

you blame his agent on this one. artest took advantage b/c he knew there was no market for him for a big contract so he signed with a real contender.

Ariza has a good shot with us. While in LA, he had to play with Kobe, Odom, and Gasol, all wanting the ball. Now, he is coming to a team that will be wihtout its superstars (tracy and yao), so we could see him develop nicely. He may surprise us by getting some big numbers while tracy and yao are out. lets hope so.

Sad thing is that Ariza would be a perfect complimentary player next to Tracy. Guy doesn't need the ball in his hands like Ron to be effective. Too bad they won't even get to play with each other.

You'd think Houston could have offered a 1yr max deal which economically Ron could not refuse. He can always command the full MLE next season.

Did anyone see Adrian Wojnarowski's article on Yahoo. He said two different times that the Rockets are headed for lottery land and Trevor Ariza is an idiot for playing tough with the Lakers. What a dweeb :D .

Exactly...If we could've had Ron for the price that L.A. got him for, we would be ecstatic. To me Ron for 3 yrs at 18mill is a bigger bargain then Ariza for 5yrs at 33mill.

Lakers offered him more, a legit shot at a ring, and better connections for his music career.

Did you miss the two playoff games where Ron got ejected?

Old Ron is still lurking in the shadows. One bad day and Old Ron will rejoin us. I don't really see it as a matter of IF ...I see it at WHEN.

Ron loves LA because there's lots of parties, bars and clubs. eh, what could go wrong?

I think the people that wanted to bring back Ron are the same people who still think this team ISN'T rebuilding. Ron wouldn't have taken the MLE from us. He WANTED to be a Faker and he even said he would have "played for free". Morey has always valued upside potential and player development rather that Star power and me first attitudes. Notice that the Core of this team is now UNDER 26. They maybe assets to Morey or really the future for the team. Don't rush to judgment on Morey because he's doing what HAS to be done and not what you want him to do. Les pays him to plan so let him plan.
