In the game Chase started, the Rockets as a team shot very well. Chase had a great game shooting, so yes that helps Brooks with his asists, as well as the other players shooting lights out. Chase then follows that game and can't make a shot against Denver. If Chase could consistently shoot like he did against Detroit, problem would be solved.
I saw that as well. The refs aren't giving him that call. If it was CP3 or D. Will, the call would of been made. AB has to remember that when he's making those plays.
Yeah, he is a rookie....he will get more consistent. The point was that Lowry benefits from playing with closers like Cbud and Landry...... Brooks does not get that benefit. DD
Ariza's making MLE money but they want him to be a go to scorer, so yes we may be asking him to do too much and it's stressing him out because he isn't capable of it.
It wasn't exactly Brooks's first SNAFU. Brooks is looking one dimensional out there but he's got 3/4 of a season work it out.
I was at the Detroit game thinking this is the kind of eficient shooting we need from our SG. Budinger goes 6-11 for 16 points, including 12 rebounds. Chase then follows that game coming off the bench not being able to make a basket. Does he need to start? He is actualy the best shooter that we could match up with Brooks. With Aaron drawing the defense, I like the ball being kicked out to our best shooter.
C'mon we have all played basketball. You know this was a heat of the moment thing. I would be pissed too if my small point guard was trying to drive on shawn marion. The odds in that match up don't favor Brooks duh. He should have kicked the ball out or stopped and at least get a shot attempt off instead of turning it over. But all in all a win is a win and I dont think Brooks took the yelling to heart. Seems everyone is trying to bash Ariza these days which is very unfortunate. He seems like a good guy and in all the games at least this guy have a passion to win. There are a alot of guys in this league who could give a rats ass as long as they get there 20 points in and there pay check. Ariza doesnt seem like that kind of person.
Totally agreed. I'd give the benefit of the doubt to the yelling. But there is no excuse for not showing interest just because he was not as "involved" as he thought he should be. I am beginning to think that the "go-to" status is getting to Ariza's head. We have a bunch of humble, hardworking guys (Battier, Scola, Hayes, Landry) on this team. We don't need some 24-year-old MLE guy to think he is here to be handed the leadership role.
Hmm...not sure if there is something to it, but it's just one game..he did seem sorta sluggish and uneffective and unhelpful at times on offense. However, if you're referring to that last play where he yelled at Brooks after Brooks lost the ball out of bounds, I think it was warranted. It shows Ariza cares enough about winning and is saying, Brooks what the heck was that, terrible play! I'm 80% sure there's no animosity, they're just teammates wanting to win.
I'm starting to think that's part of the problem. RA designated him to be the "go to guy". Scolandry and Brooks are better scorers than him,and even Kyle is rapidly coming up. C-Bud is promising too. DM also made too many promises to him,in order to recruit him. Ariza might be feeling that management is letting him down.
Ariza is just a hot head at times, as evidenced by his shot at DeRozan. I don't think it's that big a deal, given that this team had friggin Ron Artest on it before and they did fine. Adelman, too, has handled guys with bigger "issues" and bigger egos than Trevor Ariza, such as the aforementioned Artest, Bonzi Wells and Jackie Christie. Brook's quote about the situation is pure gold:
Let me get this straight, this thread is about poor Aaron getting yelled at by Trevor because he screwed up the last play of the game?? Men and TEAMMATES playing basketball and one of them didn't play nice with the other because he didn't make a smart play with the ball. HOLY MOLY, do you really think this is the first time in the history of the NBA that this has happened??? What would be real news is if nobody on the Rockets cared a hoot about not making a winning play in that situation. Especially with the intensity that game was played at. Do you really think the coaching staff wasn't happy that one of his teammates got on him so they didn't have too?? Have you guys ever been a part of sports before?? I've seen much worse in a pee wee football game than this. Give me a break, PLEASE.
I didn't see the outburst but everything else you've said is 100 percent correct. Effort. Ariza is going to be traded for this reason... notice how Morey backs him up even though everyone else in the world is calling for him to stop throwing bricks. He's lying through his teeth on this one and probably wants to give the Ariza experiment more time.
It hasnt even been a full season and you want to give up on the "Ariza experiment". Give me a freaking break. You will see if this so called experiment is a failure 2 years from now not 30 games into season one.
