Looking at the early results it seems to me a badly timed poll; Lee is coming off two (reasonably) good games and no one has seen ariza's play next to chris paul yet. It probally would have been better to make this poll at the time of the trade to get a more impartial result.

In saying that, I'm still going lee - similar prodution and he's still on his rookie contract.

Read somebody say Ariza has the edge on defense, but Ariza's defense was underwhelming last season. That was the only aspect of his game I was disappointed with last season, truly.

But I dont see many people say his defense is overrated like I say it is.I thought it was pretty evident watching him play fr the Rockets last season.

I know LOTS of people will disagree with me here but I believe that we should have kept Ariza. The 3 is our weakest position right now, and had we kept Ariza, our 3 position would have been on par with the others. With a reduced role this year, Ariza would be much better, just look at how good he was at the end of last year, after we got Kevin Martin.
I honestly would prefer this linup:
    Brooks/Lowry
    Martin/Battier
    Ariza/Budinger
    Scola/Hill
    Yao/Miller

Right now we kind of have a log jam at the 2, Martin will (or at least should) be getting the majority of the minutes at the 2, as I feel that he is our best player. Why trade your starting SF for a backup to your best player. And yes Ariza was our BEST SF, he was starting the whole year, and don't tell me that crap about how he was only starting because of his ego, Tracy McGrady had an ego and look where that got him. Rick the Ruler is not afraid to sit a player and obviously he felt that Ariza was our best SF. We need as much athletism in our first unit, Lee is a better ball handler, yes, but with Yao coming back and Martin fully onboard Ariza will not need to handle the ball and will be more of a kick out 3 man/slasher.

I feel that we made a mistake on that trade and that could also be why we are out of sync with our first unit, it's not all Yao. Even after Yao goes out and is replaced by Hill the rest of our first unit is still out of sync. I have not been impressed with Courtney Lee at all, I know he is better than he has shown, but I just don't see why we "coveted" him when our best player playes his position.

Ariza quickly outwore his welcome with his failed Kobe impersonations.

He thought he was the man because he had a ring and thought he was better than everyone else.

I see what you're getting at but Trevor wouldn't work well with Yao. His dismal shooting % from 3 and bad shot selection made it an easy decision to move him.
I don't think a sf depth chart of Battier and Budinger is exactly sub-par either. Chase's developing into a really nice player and honestly even this ealry into his career has a more polished game than Trevor.

The reality is you picked up a defensive minded, young, athletic, proven true SG to back up a player with injury concerns. Meaning IF you lose Kevin for any period of time you may lose scoring but will be much better defensively.

Yeah well I know most people here wanted to get rid of him, but when you look at raw numbers 15 ppg on 40% shooting isn't that bad. IIRC after Kevin Martin got here and he became more of a spot up 3 point shooter he shot about 36% from 3 which is decent.

Hopefully we won't need to use Lee that much at the 2 and Martin stays healthy, I really believe that he is our best player.

Eventually I think we need an upgrade at the three sooner or later.

I think its too early to tell, but If I had to chose now, I would chose C. Lee.
some players said Lee was very good in training camp, so I have hopes in hm.

Lee can dribble and is much more efficient than Ariza.

Lee did struggle at NJ when he was forced to be a volume scorer. So yeah, I agree that both of these guys are good role players and should not be asked to be stars. Skill-wise, I don't really know which is a better player. Ariza has the height advantage. Lee has the speed advantage. And as some pointed out, Lee has way better handle.

But at the end of the day, I think I'd still pick Lee over Ariza even without looking at the "fit" factor. Lee is smarter and more disciplined. That always gives you an edge.

A tossup. Lee is a little more polished and fits a need, and has a cheaper contract.

If they both had the same cheap contract, Ariza is the slightly better player. I think Chris Paul could turn Ariza into an impact player more than he can turn Courtney Lee into one for some reason.

I think Ariza would have been really good with a shot-blocker behind him on defense, and without the pressure to create on offense. He was frustrating, I know, but I feel he sort of got a bad rap last year.

Lee has a better jumper, can dribble, is far more coordinated, and is a better defender.

Ariza was a piece of crap

    Fail on multiple levels

What was Ariza better at than Battier or Bud? He was a worse shooter than bother, a worse defender than Battier, and a worse offensive player/less athletic than Bud

Lee's got a quick first step, can dribble, and pay the 1. Not even close.

Fail on multiple levels? By who? Coach Adelman? Because he's the one who started Ariza. And judging by the fact that he did not hesitate to bench players with large contracts (McGrady) I feel that Ariza earned that spot. Ariza was more athletic and a better shooter/slasher than Battier, and his handles were about the same as Battier's. As for Bud, he was better at defense and was a better slasher/finisher inside. No he is not less athletic than Budinger, lol, what games were you watching?

    ariza pros
    superior height and length
pretty good atheleticism for his size
    versatile

    ariza cons
    ballstopper
    attitude
    overpaid
    clogged at the SF
prob the least fav of the locker room last year

    lee pros
solid back up SG or starter if major blockbuster were to happen
lee > ariza at creating shot
lee > ariza in the locker room/chemistry
    sensible salary
    cooler tats

    lee cons
he missed that layup for orlando
    nothing else..yet

both can shoot the 3. both prob better coming off the bench. i doubt however, that lee will ever be capable of getting a triple-double like ariza did last season. who's better? depends on the team. hopefully for the rockets, lee shall be.
