I made it so that the poll closes in a week. I want to see where people stand on the issue now and then again about midway through the season.

Nothing brilliant here. I'm just curious to see the results.

Edit: Somebody asked so I'm just making it clear: Would you rather that we never made that trade and still had Ariza or are you happy with having Lee instead?

Edit: I should've added a "Too early to tell" option. Too late. Just say so if that's your opinion.

I wish we could keep Ariza, but traded Battier for Lee.

Obvious is Lee has better handles and will be a better shooter but overall just "fits" so much better with the team. Ariza seemed on an island a lot of the time last year while Lee looks truly part of the unit.

Ariza sucked, but so many people on this board argued that he was good.

One is a shooting forward, the other a shooting guard. we needed a good backup shooting guard so Lee is perfect.

simply put Lee is playing within his game while Ariza was trying to be something he was not last year

I'll edit the original post. I thought it was obvious.

I meant would you rather still have Ariza over Lee, i.e., that trade never happened.

Too early to tell. It's the preseason.

I think Ariza is a better player, though Lee seems like a quality backup.

Ariza looked really bad last year because he was being asked to do too much. If Lee is put in a role where he's asked to score 17 ppg, he'll look really bad too.

And I interpreted the poll question as who is the better player. I don't have any problems with the trade itself.

That's a fair answer. I should've added "Too early to tell."

Yea, I guess I shouldn't assume that people are thinking what's in my head. I do kind of mean "Who is the better player?" but I sort of see that as the same as "Who would you rather have on this team?" even though one can have different answers to those 2 questions, as is the case with you.

I think you have to do the trade and take Lee with his contract and upside. But as a player I'd rather have Ariza for now.

I would agree with this RIGHT NOW but honestly think Lee will surpass Ariza by season's end. Lee is a better shooter, better handles and just as explosive with the ability to finish better. Defensively is where Ariza has the edge now but hopefully Lee can show some improvement to his already nice "D".

Yea, I was surprised to see durvasa say that he thinks Ariza is a better player. I really don't see it that way, even if stats might show that to be the case.

There are things that each is better at but at this point, my sense is that Lee is the better overall player.
