I said on the court. When did Wafer look out of sync with his teammates ON THE COURT.

    Explain to me these tools

I'll break it down simply for you:

    - Wafer did not understand Rick Adelmans ideas on how the offense needed to work. He could not play within a structured system. He did not understand his defensive role, or how he could contribute to a successful defensive team. Most of his defensive deficiencies could be masked by having good defenders at the other positions while wafer was on the court. on offense, his role was simplified to "if you get the ball, attack" because he didnt know how to do anything else. i wont say that you can be in sync or out of sync with someone when they only do one thing. if he actually had any responsibility or contributed to a team concept of basketball, then you can start talking to me about whether he was in sync or not. clearly, NO OTHER NBA TEAM valued what Wafer could do. So, unless all 30 NBA GMs are stupid, and you are smart, then obviously you vastly overrate what Wafer is capable of.

Really? You have no memory of him trying to make something happen and jacking up shots left and right? And him being a girl and sulking after he was taken out during Game 2 against the Lakers can be considered on court.

    More falsehoods....

He was offered a contract, he took more money....as to whether he fit in with Adelman, clearly he had some issues, but his production was pretty danged good and even great as a starter.

    Let's let him go though.

I agree with the stopping of Ariza bashing. It's important to remember that his career high was 26 pts in a game...and he got 25 yesterday with only his second game of the season with us. I think he'll be just fine, what more was anyone expecting?

so people are still going to say he can only make 3s when kobe passes him the damn ball?

i've seen this guy from the beginning of last season on the lakers to the championship series. he REALLY worked on his jumper (spot-up). he's basically money if he has some day light. i'm glad adelman sees this and is utilizing him more off screens.

he has some severe weaknesses (esp. off the dribble) but those plays are minimized. when he does well with those though, they're bonuses.

but this guy is a BARGAIN for the money we signed him for. a BARGAIN.

Well if he keeps slashing to the rim 5-10 times a game I imagine he can learn to cut down on the turnovers and finish a little better. That alone would would make him improve considerably.

My problem with Ariza is that he seems to think that:

    1. "I got paid, and there's no Mac & Yao. Ergo, I'm now the man". This gives him the green light to try to do things superstar players do, like put the ball on the floor and split double teams or bring up the ball and instantly jack up a three without so much as waiting for a rebounder to get to the basket.

    2. "I am really athletic, and I am going to be like T-Mac one day if I practice my moves during games". This makes him think he is capable of creating good offense by beating his man off the dribble and attempting an acrobatic finish around the basket in rush hour traffic. Occasionally it works, but most often it results in FAIL.

    3. "I am a really good defender and I have the quickness to stay with anyone." This makes him think he doesn't need to be focused on defense, stay disciplined on pick and rolls, fight through screens, rotate properly when help is needed, and play fundamental defense without trying to go for the home run every time.

The sum total is that he looks like the talent to be a really valuable player is there, but he does so many infuriatingly stupid things over and over on both sides of the court that even when he is putting up points, he is hurting the team to the point that you want to throw objects at the TV.

I trust that he will get better, and that the coaches are seeing the same things I'm seeing so they will help him change his attitude toward the game. I was encouraged by what I saw after halftime in the GS game -- it seemed that finally he realized he needed to defer to the point guards to run the offense, play his role and not force the issue all the time. He even had assists on two consecutive possessions at one point, which impressed me.

That said, right now he is still my least favorite player on this roster not named Joey Dorsey, and he's got some work to do to change my impression of him.

I'm definitely an Ariza fan. He's still a little rough around the edges, but he was a great pick up.

    In Morey I Trust.

I only watched Ariza's play for the two regular season games, he was a little of of sync in both games, but did some good things in the 2nd game.

I think the management made a smart decision of letting Artest go, and signing Ariza, given the younger player the team have. I think we'll see a lot of growth from Brooks, Lowry, and Co this season, and they will be the foundation for this organization for years to come.

BTW, I think Ariza's defense was a little bit overestimated, just as his offense is a little underestimated. He is a very good team defender, but an average on ball defender.

nothing i wrote was false. he went overseas because he got more $ yes, but considering the bargain price he could have been had for . . . i think it says a lot that no team picked him up. not even teams with gigantic holes on offense and at the 2 spot like new orleans.

I think Ariza will be better than a role player. I feel like with his driving ability he will eventually get to the line more and eventually be a borderline all-star player if he keeps working on his game.

Who is to say they didn't make an offer?

Von took more money than other teams in this economy with shrinking cap situations were willing to give.

Look at Ron, he took a pay cut too....
