Ariza has not been playing his natural position (SF), hence he's expected to be the primary scorer. If Martin were playing the 2 and Ariza the 3, you'd probably see a more Laker-esque Ariza (rebounding, defense, getting open looks, slashing to the basket). Ariza does not create his own shots and never will, but neither does Battier. It's not necessary for the SF to create their own shots, just be in position at the right time.

I would love to see Martin and Ariza on the floor at the same time (after giving Martin a few games to get over his new-team neurosis). Maybe Brooks would pass more then.

martin getting a chance to start will give him a better FG%. ariza was playing well, and will play even better with the well needed and deserved rest.

Shows how long you've been a rocket fan, At that start of the season this team on any given night could beat anyone and proved it.

I made a poll asking that a while back.......Ariza is the new Rockets whipping boy for the season

Unless Martin continues to play poorly.

Let me word that again. Ariza's injury, after MRI on Monday, was diagnosed a severe hip pointer. Will be reevaluated next week.

Right even though he has the second worst FG% in the entire league.

More minutes for Bud and maybe a few minutes for Hill?

don't count on it. he'll be playing against one of the better defensive teams in Orlando.

Yes I hope we see both of them out there together :)

Orlando is very big and physical, Andersen will get eaten alive out there with Gortat,Dwight, and hell maybe even Bass if they want to play him.

Did you just put defense and Orlando in the same sentence? :) :) LOL! Orlando is one of the worst defensive teams in the league! No one outside of Howard puts an effort to guard anyone. I expect Martin to have a field day against the Magic.

Bogus, I will take Ariza starting over Battier any day of the week... We are always behind in the 1st qtr because neither Shane nor Chuck can score... We are getting killed by the 1st team.

Latest example, Battier getting murderded by Granger, check the stats of when he was defensed by Ariza compared to Shane. No comparison. Shane's starting days are number just due to the grind of a long NBA career that is coming to an end.

Starting Martin will limit Ariza and Brooks number of attempts. Making Trevor a go to player was a mistake. He needs more offseason work, however, his D right now is better than Shane's.

Amen, a knowledgable poster who understands the game and can see that Ariza is miscast and a better defender than Shane.

It's pretty obvious but people make up their minds and look aonly at his mistakes and ignore his 1 on 1 defense.

Battier can't stay with his man anymore sadly. Plus, Ariza can actually attack the basket and draw fouls/dunk occasionally.

Look, I know you really like Trevor but his one on one defense has been pretty poor this year too....

Neither him nor Battier has been anything to write home about....in fact all our perimeter players are struggling without Yao down low protecting the rim.

I think they have both played much better D than the average wing.

Shane come off the bench making our second team balanced

    pg-lowry
    sg- budinger
    sf- battier
    pf--jefferies/hill
    c/armstrong/andersen

This will bolster the rebounding defense and allow the starters to play all out. This second line up has better shot blocking and better team defenders across the board. Armstrong has been known to block some shots

Look, I know you really like Aaron Brooks but his decision making has been pretty poor this year. ;)

If you can't admit that Trevor is a better option on offense and even defense (Battier has lost IT) then I don't know what to tell you. Look at Arizas last 5 games. He made a great adjustment and has made great plays on Offense and Defense.

Battier will take a charge now and then but you and I know that the Future is Ariza and since you are all about this "developmental year" you should should be as optimistic about Ariza as you are about Budinger.

Two games and you're already calling him K-brick?

How's about you stuff that negativity into your saddlebags, hop back on the horse that brought you here, and riiiiiide out.

Hate if you're gonna hate, but save it for something that needs hatin'. Two subpar games does not a career make.
