I'd much rather trade Ariza than Battier. Especially with Ariza's being overpaid. Hopefully we can swing Ariza and Cook pre-deadline for something better. Assuming we are in contention at that point... Hell, even if we aren't. Ariza is young and more enticing than Battier to the teams holding the Rubio types.

Great post ! It's nice to see someone thinking with a clear mind. The rockets is a much better team with his leadership. He's like the oil in the engine.

Battier + One of our First Round Picks like Chase Bud + Landry + Cook (expiring) for Amar'e would be PERFECT.

I could see a young team like OKC trying to get Shane as a "glue" guy to go along with their young talent

So Ariza being 24 and Battier 30 and us having uncertainty to Yao's future and not getting a good deal yet for Tmac has no bearing on you? This signing isn't for the present, it's for the future.

Interesting perspective...I suppose it's possible that he's being shopped. For Brad Miller, though? I don't know...maybe somebody else.

Even if Yao does make a "miraculous return", though, I'm not betting on him staying healthy an entire season or longer, I hope we can land a good backup c that can play minutes as a starting c this season.

    Please, please, please, Morey...

You're an idiot... Battier is not even remotely similar to Ariza.

Trade Battier for Rudy Fernandez and Travis Outlaw- Portland gets there defender and someone to take Rudy off their hands

Trade Brian Cook to NYC for a 2nd round draft pick- NYC gets a expiring contract

Sign Zaza Pachulia, Ryan Hollins and Rashad McCants- Zaza and Hollins give us big men. McCants will be our Von Wafer this year.

    C: Zaza/Hollins/Dorsey/Yao (While hes injured)
    PF: Scola/Landry/Hayes
    SF: Ariza/Outlaw/White/Buddinger
    SG: Fernandez/McCants/Taylor/McGrady
    PG: Brooks/Lowry/Barry

This gives a very young team that can still contend.
We keep McGrady cause he could come back and help us in the playoffs and then we free up $20million for 2010

    Not even remotely similar?

I guess aside from the fact that they're both SF's, both 6'8", both defensive-minded, both role players, neither able to create for themselves on offense, and both best suited for playing off the ball and as spot up shooters, I guess you're right.

Battier is all about high IQ, great attitude, always give 110% effort, one of the best defender in the league, a team player... I wonder why many fans
put such low value on those attributes and want to trade him away... I am scratching my head...

Do these fans live in the real world ?

Ariza is athletic, Battier is not... Ariza has the ability to be on every night... Battier is cold a lot... Ariza is talent... Battier is not, he's brains... Ariza is young... Battier is an aging veteran...

Yes, they are so alike. The are similar in size and play the same position completely different.
