dude, he's been in the NBA for 5 years now. He ain't no rookie. If he doesn't have it by now I doubt he ever will. if you want to get better in the NBA, at least show some passion and drive. but Ariza shows very little energy and drive. he just looks like he doesn't care anymore. like the thread starter mentioned, he looks very sluggish on the court. as if he's too tired to play and just wants to sit down and rest.
readjust expectations? I think anyone will tell you I had quite low expectations for this guy. I thought he could come in, play a little defense, finish around the rim, and hit some open shots. I would consider everything I listed as a role player type activity. The only thing he has occasionally done is hit open shots from behind the arc
Is that why he shut down Joe Johnson on a couple of crucial positions late in the game and overall in the 4th qtr?
If Morey likes the signing(of course he's the one who went after him afterall) and doesn't mind him shooting so many 3's, it's fine with me. In Morey we trust.
NOT THIS. His defense on the better players on a team ie Kobe have been way better then Shanes declining defense. And the op doesnt realize what we signed him for. And I bet how we signed him. Everyone keeps saying MLE when in fact it wasnt. It was the DPE, which for that reason all you cryers dont even realize your crying for nothing. If coach doesnt realize Ariza's offensive ability on the team why should Ariza? This is all learning for now.
I agree his defense is making battier more and more expendable as he is showing that he is a better and more offensive Shane.
I love ariza's defense, but his offense could be better, he is shooting .400 from the field and .365 from 3 point land, if u have been watching the rockets play u will know he takes to many jumpers. If we want a guy that does that we can start playing tmac again atleast he will be alittle more efficient at that
Funny how other teams play you when you go from the 6th option last year to being the part-time go-to guy this year. To some people this is just unfathomable.
I don't mean that he should get points over 25 each game. I mean that he has no much efforts and focus. Take a look at his teammates.
might i also add, ariza has this really horrible move where he kind of drives to the basket then he fakes the defender for a shot then he takes another step and chucks up a floater which never seems to go in while at the same time trying to draw some sort of foul, for me its uglier than Rafers tear drop
It's not just Ariza; almost everyone is looking a little haggard. I think the recent grueling schedule and the up-tempo playing style are taking a toil on the players. The fast breaks are a lot less crisp and we're going through scoring lulls more often. However, their scrappiness is still keeping them in these games. They'll probably be running on fumes for tomorrow's game against Sacramento, but then they'll have three days to recharge. When they return, the home game against Dallas next Wednesday will be tough, but I expect everyone, including Ariza, to be much more energetic.
Great signing for the price. Eventual replacement to Battier. He CAN NOT be a #1 or #2 as he is right now. He's just trying to do too much because the coaching staff is letting him do that. He shouldn't dribble as much or create as much as he is now but right now the Rockets are just experimenting on the go with him. It is essential to get a playmaking wing alongside Ariza to enable him to be efficient and productive like he was last year. Either McGrady or another wing through trade or signing will fill that void but for now, it looks like we're going to have to deal with what we're seeing now.
The only time Ariza jacks up a bad shot is when Brooks passes it to him with only three seconds left on the shot clock. What else can he do in that situation?
