Yeah, because a two time scoring champ just isn't enough. Honestly, I have noticed a little hostility from some of the Rockets players this season. But that's to be expected when you have a the shortest starting center in NBA history, an owner bent on destruction to save his golden child and no real chance of making the playoffs: you may feel a bit frustrated. This much may be true if the Rockets don't seek a starting center for the remainder of this season and next season.
it seems that ariza was hated by more clutchfans.i believe this is just a short time slump for this guy,he iwould be more competitive after that.
The problem is that Ariza is not taking open looks when he gets them and instead decided to pull up for a stupid out of rythem jumper. And when he decides to drive into the lane but figures that a half jog in and then stopping abrupty for about two seconds and then passes it out to anyone but the open man. He passes up the shots created for him by teammates and decides to take shots he tries to create for himself. Ariza is a problem, our problem. And its on Adelman. Reign him the hell in and tell him hes not a superstar.
so where is our great coach to put him in his place? where is this expert in coaching people.... where?!?
If I'm a player and coach or GM says 'Nobody is untouchable' I start to get nervous. It might cause someone who is not giving 100% to attempt to give it ... but that doesn't come naturally, so it might be frustrating or even infuriating when they try but can't ... just a thought
Did you even watch the game? It appears that you are completely off basis. The point of this thread is to discuss his attitude on the court. I am only going to assume you did not watch the game, because you are clearly missing the point. I have tried to defend ariza for his poor play. I will not go out of my way to defend him anymore, nor will I bash him for his slump. but when you start acting like a brat to your own team, and throw tantrums.... thats a totally different story.
on that last three last night that ariza missed (a little reminiscent of tmacs poor shot selection ) i was hoping that AB would get in his ear and b**** him out. I mean Ariza does it to AB why cant it be the other way around
He's acting like he's the greatest thing that ever happened to the Rockets. At least T-Mac would dominate during the early years. Even then, he wouldn't be as frosty as Ariza is. The guy just seems like he's rushing to be a star.
When the double team comes, dribble through and split the defenders. Where did he learn that from? When there are 40 seconds left and you're down by four, you're the man - throw up the 3-ball to make it into a one-possession game. Where did he learn that from? When your teammate doesn't get the ball back to you, you're the man - you get in his face about it. Where did he learn that from? When you sneak out to get the steal but your man is open from 3 - if he hits the shot, it's not because he was good enough to pop it in your eye, you allowed him to have that shot. Where did he learn that from? He's been discipled by Kobe. He saw and learned how the alpha dog acts, on the stage where the lights in the stadium only shine on the court. He looks around in Houston, where they are trying to build an egoless community of workers, and he sees a void that is his mantle to fill - to be The Man. While Kobe can get away with all of these things, Ariza just looks silly and embarrassing imitating what he's learned in LA.
Actually, I suspect that he (and the team/coaches in general) doesn't know his role exactly, and that is where the majority of his problems come in. The experimenting and letting him try to take on more is all great on paper, but it's not working so far, and it definitely doesn't make his role crystal clear to anyone. I suspect that alot of what everyone is commenting on is boiling over frustration on his part - he is sure he can play better than he is, the team is saying he can do more and also hoping that he can take it up a notch, and .. the results are not there yet. I am pretty much giving him a pass for this year though - he is really the only guy on the team where much higher expectations were placed in a situation where everything is different for him from previous seasons. More load on him than he can handle right now. Having said that, next year when Yao and whoever else are here to take most of that load off of Ariza, and he continues to show the performances and frustrations that he shows this year... then I am with the throw him out crowd.
Perfectly stated. I agree 100% Brooks isn't the best at running the court and getting people involved, but Ariza should keep his head down and just play his best ball.
Walked right into that one, didn't ya? As challenged as Chuck Hayes is offensively, his eFG% for the season is still higher than Trevor's -- even though Trevor shoots lots of 3 pointers. Shane Battier's eFG% is a full 9 percentage points higher than Trevor's. Like I keep saying, people do not quite appreciate just how historically pathetic Trevor's shooting is.
He's probably had about 5 games this season where he shot over 40% We are about halfway done. I'd rather see Artest jacking up 3's fading to his left. At least i didn't cringe when he touched the ball. And we're just talking about his shots. What the hell is that drive he does when he stops, slides halfway accross the lane, tries to reverse pivot, and turns the ball over?
Hey can you please put a pic of Ariza and Hancock together on the thread? I need you to see the similarity.
I'll post the first half of it. <a href="http://photobucket.com/images/hand" target="_blank"><img src="http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r137/blairrm/hand/SDC10710.jpg" border="0" alt="hand pin Pictures, Images and Photos"/></a>
