YoYo, I see your point, but I have to disagree with you on this one. Ariza is simply not playing well, regardless of how you characterize his role on the team. Even as a role player, expectations would not be lowered to the point where shooting ~38% from the field is considered "ok". Same is true for the number of turnovers Ariza generates per game while on the floor. And that has nothing to do with how much he's being paid and on-court performance pressures...we expect decent NBA players to play at some baseline...otherwise they probably wouldn't be in the league. The way Ariza is playing right now, he really does not look like he is a NBA-caliber player. I think given the scenario, Ariza is just struggling in all aspects of his game. His 3-PT shooting was considered to be a stable asset, but he's struggling even with open threes. As for everything else, obviously expectations have not been met and I agree that they were probably set to high to begin with.
