Honestly, I think people were too critical of Ariza's first time here.

Everyone keeps saying we signed him to be this star player and whatnot, but the contract was 33 million over 5 years or around 5.5 million per season. Is that a contract of a star player? No, it's not.

That type of contract is great for a young role player with the potential to be really good, which is what Morey and the Rockets signed Ariza to be, in my opinion. I don't think the idea was ever "Ariza will be our next superstar/ T-Mac's replacement" for the Rockets. They were hoping that with Yao hopeful to comeback along with T-Mac, Ariza can fit right in and be what he is, a great complimentary player.

Of course Yao was out that whole season and T-Mac was slow to get back, Ariza was trusted into being the face of the franchise especially after he started really well. That's when everyone started turning on Ariza, as expectations did not meet reality.

I'm not saying Ariza wasn't bad in his first stint here. He had moments of head scratching plays and immaturity, but some perspective is needed in judging his first stint here. He was young and practically a first time regular starter, just trying to find his place in the league.

fair enough but not being the main perimeter option he won't be facing a tough defender on most nights. no matter what, he's gonna be getting open 3's all season. it's just him being able to knock them down as he's been doing and as he did at a high rate last season

This isn't correct at all. After his team option was declined, Parsons' cap hold was actually GREATER than his 900k salary. The Rockets LOST cap space by declining the option.

Only reasonable explanation for declining the option was due to an agreement with Fegan that Clutch alluded to in his article (and not to create more cap space to offer Bosh/Melo a deal)

If you really think those things means you are all grown up, you are not all grown up.

The other nice thing with Ariza is his contract declines every year. Minor point but a nice bonus in the new rapidly escalating cap world.

I wonder how many attempts he's had from mid range.

Really? The Rockets renounced their rights to Parsons, making him, in effect a free agent.

has anyone ever eaten crow? anthony bourdain?
    just never got that saying/idiom.
If howard could just add one baby hook shot to his arsenal, we would be built a little like the 2005 heat with how much we get to the line.

Nope. The Rockets didn't renounce him. If they did, then he would have been unrestricted. So you were wrong, you disrespected Clutch and his intel, and you were arrogant about it.

Given that I am 60, saw my wife die on an Easter morning after 26 years of marriage and spent a literal fortune on psychiatric services for my daughter (insurance does not even cover minimal psychiatric services - did you know that), I am sure that you have no idea what you are talking about. And yes, my girlfriend is just old enough to have had a child of my daughter's age.

Lighten up, man. Of course I don't know what I am talking about. This is an internet bbs. Nobody knows who the heck jtr is. You don't need a bunch of people who don't know you and who you don't know to respect you. We are just having some fun.
