The Texans can't afford to tie up so much money on a running back. The zone blocking scheme run by the Texans has produced a lot of big yardage running backs. Denver consistently took low draft picks and turned them into top 5 rushers. They knew better than to pay a running back for the job done by the O-line.
I wouldn't give Tate big money to stay no matter what happened with Arian. If they let go of Arian for some reason I'd still let Tate walk and go with a makeshift core for a year and see if you hit gold.
Yup, you talk about 3-4 nickel dimes, you'll know what high draft picks are worth. Cowboys have mastered this and why they'll win their conference this year while Texans will be forced to trade their best individual talents.
Trying to keep Tate thinking that he would be healthier...should be a joke for the Texanss...Tate has been more often injured. Last season, Arian Foster toughed it out as Tate was bumming around. Foster is so much more valuable. I dont understand why this is even considered. Foster when healthy is the best RB for this system/scheme...
The Cowboys will represent the NFC in the SB? Do you even watch football? They're far from a lock to even with their weak division.
Im fine with rolling with a RB corp that makes 5 million per year...we dont need to be spending 10+ million on the RBs.
No more big money in that position, please. I don't know what the new staff will do, but they might try to squeeze one more year out of Foster hoping the extra time off will allow him to heal. Gonna be an interesting offseason!
Dennis Johnson is about to show the world that he is on Arian Foster's level. I should start an "Antec" thread.
Heard that on the radio today too. Not much to gain financially by cutting him. I doubt anyone will trade for a RB making $8M coming off back surgery who has also been ridden harder than any other RB over the past few years. Odds are very good that Arian is still here next year.
I would definitely draft a RB in the late rounds this up coming April. I don't think Arian can be a 3 down back anymore. I'd put him in 3rd down and goal line situations from here on out. I'd draft a bruiser like take again. Someone that's built thick to take poundings when we need them to. I'd definitely do tandem style play out of the backfield from here on out. And when you can clear his cap figure by cutting him, do so and re-bolster the position again.
