I want to believe that, but in todays NBA I don't trust anybody. He has been getting paid next to nothing (for an NBA player) and he is looking to get paid. There is nothing wrong with that at all, he just needs to continue putting in the time and effort after he gets his lucrative contract.

I don't know why y'all think the Wizards are better without Arenas. They are 24-26 and have lost 7 in a row.

Last year, they were 2-7 without him (I include the loss where he got injured and played 1 minute), and 39-34 with him.

This year they are 21-21 without him and 3-5 with him. He was playing injured that whole stretch...so I think it would be fair to say that the Wizards with a healthy Arenas are a little better than a .500 team.

Wizards are on 0-7 streaks because they missed their best player - CARON BUTLER not Gilbert Arenas!

    ^Agreed.

Even though he's not the second coming of Steve Nash-although his numbers are similar to Nash at the same age-, he deserves a big contract, because he's a solid all-around point guard, outstanding on the offensive end, and, unlike most first and second year foreigners, he's very consistent.

He's better than Andre Miller ever was and that guy got paid big time, so will José Calderón, probably by the Raptors though.

Bulter played 2 of those games and also the Wizards won the 1st game he was out.

I'm not going to say Butler is the best nor am I going to say Gilbert is. They both are very good players. The Wizards need both if they want playoff success.

I watch the Raps quite a bit, I don’t quite understand what Arenas is talking about, Calderon is a legit all-star consideration.

He’s improved his game every season he’s been in the NBA, it’s quite incredible to see how’s he’s taken his game to another level. He still needs to work on his shoddy defense and also take a little more risks with his passes, he tends to play it a little too safe.

Senor Calderon has been doing this for three years. Putting up solid stats and improving each year. The one thing you can tell about the guy is that he is a true PG, the kind of PG that makes his teammates better. Seriously the team that can prize him away from Tdot will be a heck of a lot better next season IMHO.

Calderon is one of several players playing well enough this season to be given All-Star consideration, but weren't selected. The people who say that Stern had to pick Rasheed just weren't looking hard enough. Calderon was snubbed.

Les should show some foresight and instruct Morey to make a run at Calderon if there is a possibility. He might not be Nash and there will be luxury tax implications but when you get a chance to get a premier pg who will make life easier for Yao and T-mac, then make it happen. Championships in Houston will make the ball club more valuable and most importantly, keep the fans cheering!

Exactly, thats one of the reasons why he is one of my favorite players. Its not like Arenas is calling him a crappy player or anything, he just doesn't think calderon should be an all star and says what he thinks, without a care for political correctness. You may not like it, but I find him a lot more likeable then Kobe and his fake-ass interviews

What is "politically incorrect" about it? Is there a activist group that supports backup point guards? That becomes outraged with the disparaging remarks against backup PGs?? :D

There is no touching of social, economic, or political topics such as race, class, gender, or sexual orientation. He just says a guy shouldn't have made the All-Star team.. that's just being honest and blunt, not politically incorrect.

I agree with Arenas on quite a few stuff, but this isn't one of them.

I guess it's no surprise Arenas would say this, based on how he plays the game. The guy feels that simple raw stats, points/assists/rebounds/blocks are by far the most important stats one should look at to determine a player's value.

Arenas apparently needs to go back and look at why Utah were so successful while Stockton was basically putting up the same "stats" as Calderon, and was a perennial all-star during his career.

Hope you say the same thing about the interviews HIS Airness gave back in the day, seeing as Kobe models himself on #23.

Anyone else expecting to hear about Gilbert Arenas being broke within 3 years of retiring?
