    And if they get Deron Williams this off season, and then manage to trade for Howard next season and end up giving us the #26-28 pick next year..., while continuing to be a contender for another 3-4 years.

    Not a whole lot.........but it beats the hell out of getting embarrased in the first round and losing in 5 to 6 games.

    Just don't see the Mavs sucking for so long.

    This year's draft is supposed to be deep, so I wouldn't mind getting that 21st pick, though at this point it's so unlikely for the Mavs to finish with a top-9 record that I'm probably gonna root against them.

    ... in 6 years. Who wants to wait six years for a Mark Cuban-owned team's draft pick? And it's likely that one of his teams will finish in the top 10 between now and then.

    Deep draft in 2012 and the Mavericks are/were right on the bubble line of it being the best pick it could be (#21) in order to come to us. It's something, in my opinion.

    Agreed. I think its all but a given that Williams is a Mav next season.

    The people rooting against the Mavs, do you realize that they don't even care if they make the playoffs or not? They tanked the season from the start. I wouldn't be surprised if they'd rather be in the lottery.

    You are missing on the possibility that the Rockets could still trade that pick in this year's draft. The pick doesn't have to be conveyed this year for it to be valuable.

    Plus if they don't use it or trade it in the draft, they could use it in a trade later. You are underestimating the value of a future 1st round pick.
