eh, semantics. i'm happy to live here, there are many great things about our country. honestly if i had an opportunity to live in canada or europe for awhile i would not pass it up. i think many countries are great for their own reasons.
I like being an American. Some aspects our leaders do makes me sad, but I'm still faithful that we can make it better.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_life_expectancy Woohoo! We're almost as good as... Cuba. How many people saying "GO USA!" in this thread have visited >10 countries? What irks me the most about this country is that if anyone has studied history, they should know that we were NEVER supposed to fight foreign wars, period. Yet we keep voting for the same war candidates over and over, and therefore we will never get this country back paying for wars and debt while producing very little. Wake up folks, you are slaves who think you are free. Turn off your TV and google "The United States is a corporation" and "you are a slave to government". America is a nation of brainwashed, overgrown infants who worship worthless pieces of paper and false idols, and neither respect nor resemble our founding fathers. Peace!
You're probably right. Let's conduct an unscientific poll real quick -- answer Yes/No to the thread title, and the number of countries you have been to. I'll start - No, 24.
Did you all know that Woody Guthrie, the communist, wrote originally very different lyrics for "This Land is Your Land... "? Yes, I found the original lyrics after much investigation. Is Lam is Your Lam! Is Lam is My Lam! So the link between American-dwelling communists and their muslim tendencies dates to the FDR era, long before Obama.
I am glad your AP History has given you a platform to talk about these maters with such ferocity. Ron Paul forever, amirite?
I like being an Ameican. I am attached to it. Except for a few years growing up in Central American as a teenager I have always lived here. I'm not really proud of a militarist imperialist America that has a pitiful welfare state and thus is really poor in taking care of all its citizens considering our great wealth. It is not too bad here. Most of the world's approximately 200 countries are worse. I would put us in roughly the top 25 or so overall. If you have a lot of money it is definitely top 5 I would say.
Two words: Walmart Nation Maybe there is a certain pride to being able to produce so many unabashed fat people.
Rather, Cuba is almost as good as us. And I've been to 18 different countries, most of them several times.
For some reason ever since the Messiah has been in office I don't feel like an American anymore, I found myself parlez francais, drinking more wine, eating more cheese and you know....behaving more like a Euro!
Just so you know, I've traveled extensively and have been to about 20-25 different countries. Asia, Africa, Middle East, Europe, Latin America, Australia. When overseas, I deliberately engage people to learn as much about their history and culture as possible. It would probably shock you that when I walk off the plane after returning, I feel like kissing the ground and am very thankful to be back home. My view for a long time is Americans who feel this country is so bad need to travel and see how the rest of the world is because it would give them a greater appreciation for this imperfect place we live.
The point of your strawman? Use an attention grabbing photograph to divert attention away from reality, well done. Never mind the facts, or that Ron Paul won basically every debate when he was running for Pres. while being anti war and anti big govt, i.e. trying to restore liberty and financial stability to this country. Butnahh, just keep listening to your puppet media telling you how to think and vote.
Ron Paul won crap. And your political philosophy has been tried and has failed miserably. Atlas Shrugged is not a textbook.
Democracy is the bottom 90% of the class giving the top 10% a lecture on quantum mechanics, then kicking them out of the classroom for disagreeing with them.
This is a good example words don't mean what they mean on the face. Many people who say I am proud to be American here or this country is the best, don't mean it in a disrespectful way that other countries suck, well some do, but many others don't. Weird, right? It's a way of expressing gratitude and allegiance to the country and nothing wrong with that. Are you telling me that you don't appreciate Dutch culture, the heritage, the wonderful windmills and tulips?
