I'm on the t-mobile 30 dollar 100 mins unlimited text and unlimited data (up to 5gb 4g) I use groove ip to do voice over data but realizing that having that app open is draining my battery to the point i'm not liking it anymore. At least I've gotten to the point where i've been able to manage my minutes per month to under 100 mins. I text and message like a w**** though so that's how i do most of my communication and just do wi-fi calling at home to save on minutes.
There are 3 phones on my AT&T plan- 2 smart phones and a dumb phone. Barely use minutes, text and data is big. How do I go about figuring out what works for me? I have a regular (locked) iPhone 4. Typically costs about 160/month
I use T-mobile's $70 truly unlimited plan. Not the one that used to be capped at 5gb for high speed data. I pay $66.50 if I use callingmart. NO TAX. I'm using an unlocked 850mhz and 1900mhz compatible phone on T-Mobile and it's okay. Not as great as T-Mobile's native network (1700mhz) as far as data goes. I've also used Red Pocket in the past but I would end up getting throttled a lot.
Where I live/work Verizon is the best coverage option I have. I would like to switch to StraightTalk, because they use the Verizon network, but the no streaming clause in the TOS is holding be back.
If your on a 100min unlimited text/data plan, you just won't be able to use anymore mins unless you add lets say $10, which will get you 100 more mins (.10/min), your text/data are still covered till the end of that billing cycle. There's options where you can auto re-bill every month or just add money to your prepaid balance for whatever plan you want. As what Scionxa suggested to me, just buy the prepaid cards at a discount rate at different places, which saves you even more.
BTW, I think I read that T-Mobile will no longer be giving CallingMart (or others) discounts anymore. Still probably better to use it over buying directly from T-Mobile though (no tax + rewards through CallingMart). Using Target or whatever else to get x% off would also work well.
Depends on how many minutes you use per month, number of texts, amount of data you use. Since you already have GSM phones on ATT you might as well give TMobile's plans a try. Unlock a smartphone, buy a Monthy4G prepaid SIM ($1 off the web site) and pay $30 for a month of service to see if you like the coverage/service. If so, port your number over. You will incur an early termination fee if you are still under contract with ATT. You can also try Straight Talk for $45/month if you don't like TMobile. The nice thing about prepaid is you don't have to sign any 2-year contracts, and can switch cell phone companies any time you want. The downside is if you want a new cell phone you have to pay full price for it.
Yes it is, it used to be Unlimited but capped at 5GB. It has recently changed to truly unlimited. http://prepaid-phones.t-mobile.com/monthly-4g-plans
T-Mobile prepaid 50, 60 or 70 depending where im at in the world. Been in town lately anf rocking Pandora at the gym so 70 plan minus the calling mart 5% discount and no tax. Usually with the wifi calling feature im on the 60 plan for 57 out the door
I hate contracts. But I actually went the other way. Had prepaid, but went up to a 4G phone on AT&T contract. Yes contract is more expensive, even with the subsidized phone offset. I went with "features" over price though. I'd say the extra 4G speed, apps and storage space benefits over my previous 3G phone is about 15-20% better user experience, for what I use phones for (which is basically nothing). But the cost is 50% more. Faster speeds but at a very LOW DATA CAP doesnt do much to feeling the "upgrade" benefit. Not really worth it in my opinion. I'll be going prepay again as soon as my early termination amount is low enough where I still save.
So you can do WiFi calling on that plan just not on a nexus 4? I've had the phone for about 2 weeks and ran out of minutes today, 100 goes very fast especially since my grandmother was in the hospital.
