Not every team has to rebuild from scratch, rebuilding from scratch is very risky unless your owner gives your GM the leeway to tank all the way to tank for up to 10 years, most of them won't do it because majority of owners are old and would be dead before the tanking produces results. Its amazing that teams like OKC and GSW were able to create dynasty level teams by tanking but not every team is that fortunate, for every team that becomes a contender like OKC you have 10 other crappy teams that are just middling of the road or go into perpetual lottery mode like Sacramento, New Orleans etc. The problem here is when you tank you really only have 5 years to build a good team because after 5 years your rookies will be paid a lot and you need to start from scratch again. OKC was really lucky they got KD, Westbrook, Harden and Ibaka consecutively and those guys were available for them to be picked up. If you look at the other end of the spectrum though, New Orleans was so bad they got Anthony Davis, but after they got him they couldn't get another franchise level player even if they were picking in the high lottery every year and now he's already making the max and they still didn't have a good foundation to surround him. If Cousins leaves next year (and he most probably will), then NO has nothing apart from Davis and so there's a big chance Davis might leave too. So what does NO have for all those years they have been tanking? Nada. That's why I think the OP is really dumb for suggesting we blow it up, the Rox right now are suffering from a lack of talent but it's not like their cupboard is bare, they just need a couple of stars on the team and those guys can be obtained with capspace. We already have a superstar and the roleplayers needed to contend, we just need additional stars and this team should be good to go.
There are many ways to contend but this is just for the individual fan's taste. I for one would like to watch a good rebuilding from scratch. Not now. When the team is ready for it. There always will be negative examples yet also positive ones but the players will never forget who drafted them and will forever remember.
At first I was really really hoping this was a thread about blowing up all MVP threads from now on. Thought surely... he or she is not talking about the... team... where we are likely to be 3rd in the NBA... in a season which many predicted us 8th in the West IF THAT MUCH. What in the world has gotten into some people lately....
Generally, I like to have a smooth transition during a bowel movement. But, sometimes it feels great to blow it up; just the cleanup can blow. So I'll stick with a firm "maybe".
Even if they played better than OKC and Spurs in 2016 with the players they had? Which means KD would have a legit shot at Championship without joining a 73 win team. How would Rockets not be an option if they played as well as 2015 and 2017 in 2016?
This is one of the best regular season teams we've had and you want to do what? We've beaten every contender at least once. I'd say we have a great shot at winning it all this year, but yeah, blow it up after we win it all. S.M.R.T. 60 posts, wow... I bet you're a legit fan...
wanted assumption again. same reason he didn't even entertain a meeting on a team with one of his close friends in the league. hou just isn't an option believe it or not
I agree with everything there except the posting point. A lot of people watch rockets their whole lives and never join clutchfans.
I would never question a poster like you if that's what you're getting at. Content + Context + Attitude just don't add up to 'Rockets Fan' with this guy. Why on Earth would you want to blow up a team you just built and built quite well? If you're not actually a fan of the team, maybe you agree. Dude dropped a poison pill in here. No need to give him props. I'll save those for you and other real fans that joined recently.
Lol ur rite. Im reaching. I guess im just saying that cause the account im posting on now started in 2016 I did have an account that got banned for trolling the hangout in 2014 tho lmao. Been a lurker since i found out about the site in 2011 though. Bottom line is this guys trippin for wanting to blow up the team. Does he remember asset collecting and 14th picks? Haha
Blow it up? I think we're still building... I don't believe this was intended to be the final product - we've just overachieved thus far this year... I'm figuring this was the first year they brought in MDA, RA, EGo and Lou... this was just a 'gel' year for the main components... and getting acclimated to MDA... Despite the DM rhetoric of 'the time is now...blah blah blah..." I think this is a work in progress... Just look at our roster past the top 6 or 7... it's mainly projects and filler... if we were truly looking to make a run this year we would've swapped some of these guys out for Jason Terry types (vets that are over the hill but can still provide some solid minutes in a supporting role...). If we were truly trying to make a run now - most of these rookies would have been moved... Bobby Brown wouldn't be tying up a roster spot... etc... No, this isn't the finished product... why don't we at least wait until we've finished building it - before we blow it up...
It sucks that our superstar's prime coincidences with one of the greatest teams assembled in NBA history but blowing it up would be very risky as we currently have a top 5 player. Trading Harden and blowing it up doesn't guarantee getting another top 5 player.
