I don't think it is any surprise that we are a tier below Golden State, but there is opportunity here. Golden State has a tricky offseason and could potentially lose some key pieces, while we have an opportunity to add talent. That will close the gap some. At that point, you are one Golden State injury away from possibly stealing a championship. You have to take those odds.
I'm usually always a nice guy....but I can't with this one. HOW CAN YOU BE SO PEA-BRAINED?!! SOOO STUPID?!?! I'M SORRY, BUT THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!! YOU CLEARLY DON'T WATCH ANY GAMES OR KNOW WHAT ON EARTH HARDEN MEANS TO THE ROCKETS ORGANIZATION AND THE CITY OF HOUSTON!!!!
It's interesting to me how sports fans have evolved to the point where if you're not the best team it's time to sell everything and tank. What if we land some sort of star SF or PF this off-season? That alone will have a major impact without blowing things up.
Blow it up?!?!?!? What's wrong with some ppl. Rockets have the the third best record in the NBA with a core that's avg age is around 28. We have around 10+ mil to spend in the offseason. And for as good as we played this season. We've left quite a few games on the table that we should have won. This team if healthy next year will win 60 games no doubt in my mind. There in all likelihood going to finish anywhere from 4-5 wins shy of that number. Not bad with a new roster new coach and new system. The rockets are in a very bright spot. Good thing the guy who made this thread is not anywhere near the rockets front office.
There is still a healthy chance James gets the MVP and that we get to the WCF or farther. We started building around James last year by allowing Dwight to leave The fact that you didn't realize this sheds a lot of light on your familiarity with the situation. A top 3 record in the league isn't a contender in your opinion. Good thing you mentioned earlier that you were looking at this realistically otherwise I would just think you were trolling
honestly I think our approach to the offseason should be the same this year as every year: swing for the fences and if we miss, look for singles. The most drastic thing the rockets should consider is if they think they can bring in another star to get over the top, trade away core guys to make salary cap room. The "nuclear" option would be to trade away trevor ariza, anderson, and lou williams for two stars. More likely would be to use cap room to sign more complementary role players, preferably young ones that still have upside.
This is the first year of this coach and core of players together, and they've dramatically exceeded all expectations. Why in the hell would they blow it up? I don't even think there's a precedent for a team in league history that has done that. It makes literally zero sense.
No worries, Les will never rebuild and Morey will never trade away elite talent that is in their prime. So OP you can wish for a giant blow it up but it won't happen. Morey is going to Morey year after year, which is to take chances on improving the team without locking into deals that hinder the ability to pursue elite to all-star talent in the future. You do realize since Morey took over the Rockets have never had a losing season, despite Yao's cracked foot and Tmac's burned-out back.
It was pretty clear Dwight was on his way out at that point. Rockets would have been on his short list if they were top 3 like in 2017 or 2015.
a houston rockets fan belief. but from the looks of how everything played out, there's actually no reason to even believe the Rockets were a thought of choice. Basically a wanted assumption
