Excellent point, meh, and well taken. Yes or No polls have always bugged me, as they leave no room for nuance. Since this one has turned into WWIII, it might be a good idea to try again, with 5 or 6 options for expressing how one feels about this hire. You mentioned a couple of options. I would include "Let's see who the assistants end up being, as they are critical, much more critical in this instance than is the usual case when changing coaches, given the unique (for the Rocks) circumstances surrounding the firing of a coach with a superb record, a lock to be in the Hall of Fame and still at the top of his game as a coach, superb both before and during the Adelman's stint in Houston, and the hire of McHale (the unique part, as top level coaches have been canned here before for reasons best known by Less, as they didn't make a lot of sense at the time), who has a heck of a lot of baggage as a coach and GM that he's lugging around, very, very little head coaching experience, but an amazing career as a Hall of Fame player, one you could assume would include a plus ability to work with big men, along with positive feedback from many of his former players in those short stints, with a smaller number of negative ones to consider, as well. That, and he has a history versus the Rockets many here haven't forgotten. No, he's not on the level of that Troika of Evil spawned by the Fates in Utah, but also not forgotten for his gleeful treatment of Houston's fans (signing Houston Sucks! at the airport here when asked for autographs), or his play against the Rocks, when his nick should have been Elbows. The last is not a hurdle that can't be overcome, but the first might be, thus the importance of those assistants. Boiled down to a short sentence, of course! ;-)- As an aside, more members voted in this poll than there were members of ClutchFans prior to the Yao draft. Pretty amazing.
