Are You Going to Be Mad If Cato & Rice Are in the Starting Line-Up on Opening Night?

I hope Rice and Cato are playing well enough that we WANT them to start. That would be an unexpected bonus. (REAL unexpected!!)

With luck, Ming and Nachbar will be pushing to take their jobs by mid-season. That would be a good problem for Rudy to have. (Please, may everyone stay healthy and headache free. We're due. I'm going to have a good stock of Pepto, because I think I'll need it. )

 

As long as Cato and Rice aren't in the starting lineup at the All-Star break I'm fine with that.

 

Not only would I not be mad, I hope that Kelvin and Glen are starting...

 

With Mo T (although out 1st 5 games), Griffin, Ming, Nachbar, and Moochie, we should have a heckuva bench and quality depth.

I would have no problem with Rice starting, and I would certainly have no problem with Cato starting as that would mean that I win the bet with HP, and could even my BBS bet record to 1-1. Plus I would get that "HP shuts up for 24 hours" card, which is non-transferable.

 

It was some guy named Cuttino Mobley who had just taking the starting job away from some guy named Matt Maloney. He had a choice and I'm willing to bet playing a frontcourt position is a lot easier than playing point for a guy who wasn't really a pg.

I wouldn't be mad if Cato and Rice did start but I hope that both Ming and Nachbar will get significant minutes from the beginning as well and move into the starting lineup after the first 20 games.

 

I'll be disappointed if Cato is starting. I want Rice out there though. If Rice isn't starting, that's bad, as far as I'm concerned (unless there's some kind of trade).

We lose absolutely nothing with Ming starting. At worst, he picks up a couple of early fouls -- so what -- we go back to last year's frontcourt. He's better than Cato, he should be out there.

 

1st 10 games:

PG - Francis
SG - Cat
SF - Rice
PF - KT
C - Cato

After that:

PG - Francis
SG - Cat
SF - Rice
PF - MoT
C - Cato

It doesn't matter how I feel about it. That is the way it is barring injuries.

Ming will not be ready for a while but will get as many minutes as he can take.
Boki, KT, & EG will be with the 1st group off the bench.

If Cato and Rice are starting that woud be a joke. That would mean that after Mo's suspension, Cato, Rice and possibly Mo would be in the starting lineup....which would be an absolute travesty and a one way ticket to the cellar.

Who cares who starts the first game. Either way, Cato and Rice will end up with 10-15 minutes of GT. Once Rudy decides to let Nachbar and Ming loose, he'll see he is not going to need to sub them out, unless for a short breather.

Rice & Cato starting on opening night is fine w/ me. They are the vets and Rudy is a pretty loyal guy. Besides, Boki has to work on his bad international D which is not a good thing. Also, Ming is gonna miss half the preseason and is gonna have to adjust to NBA ball as well as fight the fatigue he will have from playing year around. As long as both can play solid min. and contribute (but more importantly show that they can be major contributors in the future), I'll be fine w/ the Rocket rotation.

 

Why would someone get mad? Ming and Boki are rookies, and even though I would rather see Ming start, Cato and Rice are suppose to start, they are veterans.

 

No. I will be happy to see Rockets are aiming at playoff and win, not at training rookies. A mature team should take more care of game results and market. Rockets is going the right way.

But ,I will be mad if both of them still get started after 50 season games........

I wouldn't be mad if Cato was starting. I'm still a little mad that Glen Rice is on the team at all.

But I do think the guys that know the system and other players best will need to start at first. Give Ming and his teammates time to get to know each other, but giving him as many minutes off the bench as possible. It might even end up being more minutes than Cato who would still start.

Eventually Ming will start, but let's get him acclomated etc.

 

There is only one reason to be upset about either of them starting and that reason is if in the preseason Ming and Boki show they are ready for prime time NBA basketball, then they(Ming and Boki) should start.
