Are you glad that we no longer have an undersized weak rebounding PF?

I'd be interested in seeing the math behind this. For example, if we are evaluating DMo's rebounding, see the % of time he sees with Asik on the court, and then add the difference of Asik's rebounding versus an average center's rebounding to get more of DMo's true rebounding numbers--should we in essence add 5-10% to DMo's rebounding numbers for example? Same would probably go for even guys like Harden and Lin. Lin is almost always on the court with Asik for example.

What basketball needs is a zone rebounding percentage (kind of like range rating for baseball outfielders) that shows what percentage of rebounds a guy grabs that are in his zone. For instance, if he is positioned outside on offense, how often does he grab the board? The problem is that there are so many factors. Guys who can't finish will get blocked out less because teams aren't as worried about them grabbing the board. Whereas a guy who can finish AND shoot free throws (think Yao Ming) will get blocked out EVERY time because if he gets an offensive board near the basket, he will score every single time and hit his FT's if he gets fouled. Likewise, when Hakeem was shooting has baseline fadeaways over 2 guys, there was no way that he was in position to rebound, so his rebounding numbers suffered, and that needs to be corrected and adjusted. The same thing goes for defense, as to whether your job is to block out more or grab the board more, and whether you help out more on the perimeter. Much easier to pad Dreb stats if you never help out on the perimeter.

I am glad that we have a young star PF that is growing in confidence and ability every single day, a guy with true upside, who has the possibility of being a special player.

You can find solid rotation PF's like Patterson every offseason, look at David West and Carl Landry for example, but you can not get guys as physically gifted as DMo is, teams do not give them up.

Having his length, quickness and speed is a massive advantage, big guys that are quick are ultra rare.

Does that mean he will become a star or superstar player - no, of course not - but it means he has a leg up on the rest of the guys because of his natural gifts and superstars come from that very select gene pool of people that have those gifts.

So, you take a shot with Dmo and hope he pans out, already his per 36 numbers are pretty danged good - and he is not even being used correctly, if Harden would start passing him the ball on his post ups, his numbers would go even higher.

I am very happy with the move to free up time for DMo, and can't wait to see whether he develops into that 2nd star we need.

Sprewell choked his coach at practice.

    Robinson would never do this.

I agree with your general point but  Carl Landry should not be mentioned in the same sentence with David West, who is a FAR superior player, much more than a "solid rotation PF."

That was not an endorsement from DD!! That was purely an observation from a Rockets fan! STOP OVERREACTING!! D-MO is still safe, right? RIGHT!?

Ppat will also never stick up for his teammates, he'll just pat the opposing teams' ass 1000 times.

    Dmo is overrated

i dont see the talent you guys see in him, all i see is another euro who camps on the perimeter and shoots 3's

Wow. Guy is making 65% of two point attempts and is averaging 20 points per 36 min.

Per 36 is the most worthless ever created.

    Henry Sims- 28.8 PPG , 14.4 RPG

    Jared Cunningham- 22.2 PPG

    Chris Copeland- 21.0 PPG

Efficiency and overall production are very important. I'd rather have bench players playing great than not. Motiejunas had been a poor rebounder. Not many Euros have his skill inside.

Motiejunas hadn't hit the 500 minute mark for the season so his per numbers are still a little sketchy.

I don't see what is wrong with Copeland scoring a lot in limited minutes. Other parts of his game suck. I used the scoring per 36 to show Motiejunas can score in bunches which is not the typical Euro that only shots threes.

mo taylor is a pretty good comparison i think also. both patterson and morris were bench players, bottom line.

The current situation isn't much better.

Still have a weak rebounding PF (D-Mo) and a possible bust who belongs in the D-league (T-Rob).

This team is better as currently constructed. Patterson was a good role player off the bench. He's udonis haslem with a different skill set.

Morris was just useless for this team IMO. He's not a good player. He's a dime a dozen type guy and he's the type of player you're always looking to replace. Ok three point shooter, occasionally makes other types if plays.

I'm glad we gave him away. That 2nd round pick is far more valuable.

Both dmo and Robinson have more ability and skills combined than our old pf duo.

I thrilled that we are getting to see these guys and I am happy that we moved on from the other two.
