You sure have a good wife, if my girl friend finds out that I'm watching rox games she is going to kill me for sure
I've been a Rockets fan since the day they moved from San Diego. My Dad got season tickets that year and had them every year after that until 1995. Going to Rocket games as a kid is just as much a part of my childhood as going to school and having birthday parties. I remember going to games at Hofeinz and even the Astrodome. I remember going to games the first year they opened the Summit. I still remember the intro/theme song they use to play on the giant TV screens before the games. They would show pictures of everything that goes on at the Summit and change the pictures to the beat of the music. I still remember exactly how the song went. Back in college, if someone didn't really know me and was asked about me, they would say "who??? Oh, yeah. That guy that loves the Rockets". I love my Texans and Astros and when they lose, I hate it. But it's different with the Rockets. When they lose, I get sick to my stomach (if it's a particularly tough loss) and I have been known to go into depression for days afterwards. I can't fall asleep after watching the games on the West Coast, win or lose. I schedule my whole life around Rocket games.
I didn't want to touch this subject, but by your definition, I think I'd still be a fan. (Example: I still like the Titans and dislike the Texans) p.s. I don't like your definition.
I watch all 82 games. 90% of these are seen real-time at home, unless business travel interferes. I DVD record each game, and DVR each game(double teamed) and curse the fact that they are not in high definition and curse when nbatv will not show the Rockets games--blacked out. When I book my hotel on business travel, I make sure that they have ESPN and or TNT or I no bookie . Yes I have been burned before..where for some reason a nice business class hotel won't have both .. I watch 2 games in person one with my wife, and one with our 2 kidos( I wish more, but with a family/work ) I have their schedule with me in my laptop bag. Some of my daughter's first words were: "T-MAC attack" and "Yao Ming, Yao Ming, Yao Ming" My wife knows that my (good) mood is directly proportional to the Rockets success. I once flagged down Cuttino Mobley for an Autograph a few yrs back as he was riding his bike from westside to his house off of Richmond St. I once played a pick up game with Shawn Kemp at 24hr fitness (like 6 mo. ago) and this is relevant in that the sonics were major rivals to the Rockets and I talked to him about that! I have a picture of T-MAC posterizing S. Bradley hanging in my office. I flip off the American Airlines Center when on a business trip in Dallas. I have been a fan since 1994 when I moved to Houston--before that..I never could watch Rockets games regularly on TV and was a young put, so I was not able to be a "true fan" I am a fan regardless of the W-Ls...........we are all fans here...Go Rockets!
When the rockets used to play games on the west coast and it would be past my bed time, i would tune in and listen to the game on my walkman while pretending to be asleep. Now i don't have a bed time, so my parents can't stand in the way of my Rockets.
I would still support the Rockets even if they signed Jason Akermanis I don't feel the need to justify myself with examples. But I promise you one thing...I bleed Rocket Red... mixed with a little green and gold of course.
I can't stand every other NBA team. I disown any of my children that aren't Rocket fans. I spend every spare second I have at work either reading the Bible or posting here.

I do things that I shouldn't because of the Rockets... Buy tickets when I really can't afford them... Spend time reading and posting here that I don't have to spend, I should be working right now! Stay up at night listening to Rocket's post game shows on the radio when I should be asleep... Save games on my comp when it doesn't have tons of space... Etc.... Etc... Etc...
I'm a native Houstonian who grew up watching Calvin,Rudy,Moses,Akeem, the Shark, etc. In addition to all the playoff(and finals) games.... I was in the building when Dunleavy scored his carreer high 48 and sent everybody home with chicken. ...watched Worthy come in and get a standing O after being busted for solicitation for prostitution. I saw Bill Cartwright and his sharp elbows take out dream's orbital socket. Check this out....I broke my ankle playing hoops in the afternoon. There wasn't enough time to go to the ER before we needed to get to the game,so I limped around the Summit in Major Payne....went to my orthopedic man the next day where I was immediately casted.
