Dude, you also said that Yao Ming could beat Hakeem in a game of 1 on 1 because Hakeem wasn't able to face up David Robinson. 8th seed is an outside, fading fast chance. 5th seed? which would require 53 + wins? Nope.
Lakers haven't played and won many road games this season. Give them time, they will fall down in the standings.
****** idiots like you make me sick. You love to mislead people and taking things out of context to make yourself feel better don't you? Quote me please!! I was playing the devils advocate saying he's got a chance to play with hakeem 1 on 1 because of his height and he won't be as dominated by Hakeem as some of you think. I want to see dumbasses like you eat crow in a few months when we start winning. Again, we have 61 games remaining!!!
When you start thinking about "slipping" into the last playoff spot you have already become a loser. That mindset is totally unacceptable for this team. Radical action must be taken to turn things around. Anything less is do do.
if we're at .550 at the end of this month I'd say that would still leave us at about 10th or 11th place with about 3-4 games behind the 8th spot. Not in the playoffs but not out of it either.
We've twice missed the playoffs in the last 4 years with 45 wins. I'll bet money that 45 wins isn't enough to make it this year, either. $20 to the tipjar if I'm wrong, and I pay up. Evan
You said all manner of silly things, including that Hakeem couldn't drive on David Robinson, which is demonstrably false. If I could find the thread I would gladly dig it up, but I can't. But I'm grateful for the opportunity to post this again: http://www.nba.com/0001Video/olajuwon_shake_052495.avi Anyway, you're right - it's early. But where or how are we going to get better? I will gladly - gladly eat crow if we somehow manage to be not mediocre. But considering that our defects are structural in nature, I see that possibility as remote.
I wouldn't consider that Clippers road game a true road game would you? 3-5 should be the road record for the Lakers.
Ok, I will. My dream: 15-15 at the end of december. We trade for a tough power forward who could finish when near the basket and a shooter. The shooter could be either of the 1 2 or 3 positions. I'd prefer the 1. Our offense clicks. We start pushing the ball, Tmac no longer have to stay behind to rebound. The other teams find it much more difficult to double Tmac and Yao as our newly acquired shooter is drilling shots outside. 2 of (shooter, Tmac, Yao) scores over 25 pts every game. We hold the opponents to 84 pts a game, while scoring 90 ourselves. We become the hottest team in the league. We finish the season with a 52-30 record, which means in the new year, we go 37 - 15. We get 5th seed. We take out Kings in the first round in 6. We beat Sonics in 6. We lose to Spurs in the conference finals in 7 on a fadeaway 3 by Duncan. Duncan admits it was a lucky shot after the game, and gives rox all the credit for turning the season around. We break the record for lowest combined scoring by both teams, averaging 155 over 7 games. Here's the kicker: JVG gets the coach of the year. This board is filled with "I was wrong" threads with plenty of people gladly eating crow. The board however is divided on "Tmac vs Yao, who should be the focus on offense" issue. Half the people believes we lost game 7 because Yao was the focus. While the other half says Yao is the reason we made it to game 7. Eventually, this plays out to be "Tmac or Yao, who should be traded to get us over the hump." This site offically becomes the most fan unfriendly site in the world. Clutch gets sued by both YOF and TOF for emotional distress, and settles out of court for an unspecified sum of money.
I agree that we can be 15-15 by the new year. The trick is, it will have taken the cushiest month schedule I can ever recall to get us there. A stretch of 9 home games, 1 road game against an expansion team, and 15 days off over 25 days. Are you kidding me? The preseason is rougher than that! Literally! And we are hoping to come out of this pampering 0.500. We won't play Charlotte again after this run. We don't play Atlanta again. Thankfully, we get New Orleans again, but the schule will be far more difficult starting in January. March, in particular, will be brutal. Look at our schedule if you don't believe me. We should open January 15-15. Maybe 16-14. We'll need to go better than 32-20 or so to have a shot at the 8th seed. I don't think we'll do it. The sad but true fact is, we need to rework a lot of the roster over the next summer or two before we'll be for real. Van Gundy also needs to get the boot. Evan
Unless Rox's roster has dramatic improvement, I don't see how they can manage to make the playoff this year, by scoring 70pts ~ 80pts every game? 9th or 10th seat by the end of the season. That is my predication. And JVG has to go!
I wish I had some good drugs giving the way we are playing. Rockets is my drug of choice right now, well along with alcohol and tobacco. Check it out: I get a very good high when we win. I get a horrible low when we lose ugly. Doesn't matter how many times I tell myself not to watch another game unless they improve, I turn to the channel 30 minutes before game starts. When there's a stretch with no games scheduled, I am restless. lol. I'm addicted. Say no to drugs! unless you really like it.
Well Evan. For me at least, I expected .500 ball in the first thirty games. I have said this in no less than 15 posts in different threads dating back to beginning of the season. You can't tell me our first 30 games are all cushy. This is how it works Evan, IMHO: It takes time. Things look real bad when you are losing. You can point fingers at anything and it will make some sense. The coach, players, offense, defense, schedule.....whatever. It's also true that if and when you do click, things will look instantly infinitely better over night. Even without coaching/roster changes. Some times teams click, and some times they don't. But there is no way you can tell in 20 games. I have been preaching patience. Give this team some time before claiming they won't make the playoffs.
The only thing saving me from thinking we're not even in the playoff hunt is we've had a pretty rough schedule to open the season. We'll be an above .500 team, but still when the league's leading scorer for the past couple of years can only put up less than 20 points a game, something's just not right in Houston. When the league's leading scorer for the past couple of years joins forces with a 7'6 freak and you can't even drop 80 on "allas" (no D), then you have a problem. I don't want to hear any excuses. I wanna see up getting freaking 90+ points a game, and sadly, that's too much to ask from this team.
