Sengun is good, just not great... He has limitations that likely will keep him out of elite status. You look at Green and Jabari and those two are athletic, explosive and their chances of becoming franchise players are so much higher. Recently Smith has found out he can plain shoot over people, reminds me of Durant a little.
I love my brethren here, but some of you are crazy The average NBA player peaks around age 27.7 https://sites.dartmouth.edu/sportsanalytics/2021/11/10/peak-age-in-sports/#:~:text=Taking a look at a,the average age is 27.7. ....and the Rockets have 15 players at: ...age 19......age 20.....age 21.....age 22.....age 24.....age 26.........age 27..... ....Jabari........Green......Kenyon.......KPj..........Bruno....Mathews........Tate (DNP) ......................Garuba.......Tari....................................................................... ......................Sengun.... Christopher............................................................ .........................Nix..........TyTy....................................................................... 10 players 22 and under Eric Gordon 33 Boban 34
This is irrelevant because it is pointing out the seasons in which the individual players are at their best. If you have low ceiling players on the roster, or are not developing talent to have a high ceiling, being 27.7 years old just means that is when that specific player is at their personal best, it doesnt mean they will be competitive in the league. If that were true, the key to a championship would be to find a bunch of 27 year olds and put them on the same team. Also, if you are not good in your early to mid 20s, chances are you are out of the league all together, and you wouldn't even be playing in your late 20s unless you were one of the good players. How many guys we got that could be out of the league completely in a few years? (No guarantee on Bruno, Nix, TyTy, JayGup, Garuba, etc making it another 5-6 years in the NBA) You can compare our guys to people in their draft classes, or people their age and see what they look like, that makes more sense. If you look at ANT vs. Jalen Green for example, similar type of player similar age, ANT is a winner. He immediately came onto that team and was the leader, even with a veteran star like Townes on that team, ANT is the one with the swagger and single handedly winning games with the two other max guys out. You look at other guys too when they were in their rookie years, we saw immediate impact. I saw it in ANT, Luka, Ja I think took maybe a year or so. I don't see that from Jalen Green. Trae Young looked much better than Jalen Green in his second year as well. How many teams get 3 top 3 picks in a row? It is rare because usually if you get one they will change the direction of the franchise. We have seen injuries for OKC, Detroit, and Charlotte to their top picks, so they will pick high again, but Houston has been healthy and they still suck.
The only positive thing that can come from this season is a Top 2 pick. Period. There will be no team or individual accolades gathered. No Playoffs No MIP No ROY No DPOY No MVP Nada. Top 2 pick or this season was a waste for everyone involved.
We’ll get 4 or 5 on the pick most likely. Becoming a lost decade. We are not tanking as long as we continue to play EG 30 minutes a game. Silas gets nothing out of tanking except for another assistant coach job as no one will ever hire a head coach with a 38 - 152 record no matter what excuses are made. This man thinks that Nix is our best player off the bench…..nuff said!!!
There is a ramping up and down regardless. Players don't come into the league at peak level. The exceptions imo have been Tatum and now Banchero (grant it I haven't seen Banchero stats lately) Articke does point out the G.O.A.T. MJ being 27 at peak......understand that MJ spent 3 years in college. A guy like KPj has 3 years of experience but is in only in his 2nd season at point guard while sporting 18.9 pts/ 5.6 rebs/ 5.6 Ast. at age 22....What will his stats be at age 27? Will the game slow down even more? See the court better? I say yes. A rising tide raises all boats. Tatum was easily doing well day one but Jaylen Brown didn't do as magnificent. But Jaylen Brown has improved greatly the last two seasons. Both are at All Star levels now. Jaylen Brown being 26 now and with stats not much more better than KPj.
this has been said for the last 2 years now and we have nothing to show for it. two top 3 picks and frankly they haven't been top 3 in their draft class. so far. that's either on stone, silas or both.
Some of us were prepared for this. This team was supposed to suck this bad at this point. That's what you get when you play a bunch of teens and 20-year-olds.
What does your Banchero line even mean? Would have?? But didn’t? Banchero went 1st, it’s not like they passed on him. Not sure what you’re trying to say there it’s not coherent
Both. The roster is constructed to tank. The coach shows no sign of getting anything more out of the roster.
i hear you but most of us aren’t expecting to see wins. Most of us expect mistakes. But most of us also expect to see progress and development. I think that’s what everyone is freaking out about. In year 3 we really can’t point to much progress or development. And then there’s the coaching…. so I just don’t buy the 20 something excuse. No one is expecting them to be good; just mild signs of progress, which isn’t really happening.
so stone tried to tank by starting eric gordon? By signing 30 year daniel theis? By trying to resign 30 year old oladipo? You cant be this naive
do u think Theis makes a difference in the tank, or EG at this point (and just to be clear, Stone didn’t start EG; Silas did). Clearly in year one they were still figuring out their strategy, hence the oladipo debacle. but if Stone wasn’t trying to tank this year, the product certainly doesn’t support much confidence in his GM skills.
Why is it such a bold statement to say Stone has been a bad gm? Given everything weve seen so far he is simply not good Why is it so easy for everyone to accept Silas is a bad coach but at the same time we give Stone the benefit of the doubt? This is not Daryl Morey that we seem to all be accustomed to. He hasnt proven anything. Im not going to expect him to be a master strategist
Honestly the 21 draft in general is looking rather mediocre, Barnes is struggling so bad this year, Mobley is looking consistently good but not close to being franchise player as predicted. I think Franz Wagner might be the best performing player out of that class
I don’t disagree that Stone is responsible for the current state of the rebuild. I don’t have confidence in him. But I think he gets a little more leeway than Silas because he’s drafted well by most accounts. Hey but I don’t disagree with you. I’m big on accountability and the current state of the team is not good. If u want to make the big money and have the power, you’ve got to be responsible for the results.
I see where you coming from but coming straight out of HS is different than having a season or two NCAA ball under your belt Based off your comparison T Young looked better than Kobe two years in, not saying Green is going to reach Kobe level but most forget he avg 7ppg rookie year then by yr three was at around 20ppg and year four took off at around 27/28ppg and never looked back
I'm fairly certain this is the case. But let's consider the options he was faced with: Be as bad as you can. Or be not as bad but still bad. Option A you have the potential to add premium talent, option B you are stuck on the mediocrity treadmill hoping for lightning to strike. Me too .... Losing to the competition almost counts double and you can win a few you shouldn't as a byproduct.
