It's weird that, on defense, he can jump and block shots (leads the team) or move quickly laterally to guard the best offensive players on other teams.

Yet when he's on offense, he can't jump or move laterally.

I guess its different with the ball in your hands. IDK WTH everyone is talking about. I watched the games last night and even the past week and Battier was nothing short of SOLID. He deflected passes, got rebounds in traffic, took charges, tipped rebounds to others, got steals, made solid passes, and absolutely OWNED second tier players like Granger and Artest. With the exception of Ellis, he has been holding superstars to basically their season average but on lower shooting percentages.

Next game, please look for things such as deflections, screens, rotations and team defense, weak side help, and solid position defense. Don't look for the dunks. Shane Battier is a bargain at 5-6 Mil, which is hopefully what the Rockets will bring him back at. I assure you he will command it as a free agent.

Our beloved starting SF stat line after 11 games and it's only getting worse.

    Pts 6.3
    Minutes: 31.4
    FG%: .365
    3FG%: .314
    FT%: .600
    Reb: 4.6
    Stl: .73
    Blk: 1.18
    TO: .91

We are only the team with SF who is this horrible and you can't play him with the nonathletic PF and Center. The best move is to insert Chase and Jordan into starting lineup and let Scola and Shane take advantage of the 2nd teamers

Ther FO put that much faith Bud when they claimed to have traded Ariza because of playing time. Bud hasn't stepped up, he doesn't play defense, and his offense has been a non-factor.

A couple of weeks ago on 1560/610? Morey sounded surprised/in agreement to a question as to why Jeffries hadn't been seeing floor time.

Jeffries trying to make a layup is one of the most comical things to see in a Rockets game.

Thank God you are not the coah or GM and there are responsible adults in charge of the organization. Those stats don't mean a heck of a whole lot.

His true value is as a throw in to the trade for contract purposes, expiring, added depth to the team we trade to. Most likely he is the money matching player included with someone else. Very valuable to have with someone like Brooks who has a low contract amount.

Yes, he did, which was nice. Unfortunately, he missed all four free throws after these two fouls.

I get the intangibles, I really do, but I'll shed no tears when Shane and Chuck are gone.

Battier is a role player who knows his role...unlike others that we traded to New Orleans.

Battier has been terrible! But I can't hate on what he's been trying to do. Some people complain that he doesnt do anything but camp out at the corner, only good for an entry pass, or a set shot etc. Now that the guy is trying to do more, he's getting chewed up as well lol. Granted that he hasn't been efficient at his recent attempts to be more aggressive, I'm glad he tried. Now, we just need AB and Yao back so he can realize that his role is just that, corner 3, 5th option Shane lol

Shane is a bench player who knows his role.....unlike others who are 26 years old and is hungry to establish himself.

But with Shane, he knows he sucks on offense....so why bother trying..

But hey, he plays great defense on Durant/Kobe/etc...because he only allows 24+ pts a game.......Durant/Kobe score on average 25+ per game....congrats to Shane on holding them to less than 1 point below their average.....

He is also the glue guy for our confetti defense.

If we could somehow morph him back into the battier that played for the grizz back in the day I would say your stupid, sit down and shut up. Now im saying trade his butt!! His expiring is very appealing to many teams and he is a smart player and teams value that too. On a young team that may need a leader or dare i say "sanity2therechaos".............Point is get what you can for the dude cause hes done......IT IS WRITTEN.

if it was that simple we'd have this lineup:

    CP3
    Wade
    Durant
    Ama're
    Howard

    But it's not.

Unless you are willing to take on Brand for a Battier + Jeffries deal which Morey would never do, Shane will end his contract as a Rocket.

Tracy had value because of his past (maybe he could still play???), expiring (in case previous wasn't true) and big 2010 FA class. Even with all that, I don't think there were that many suiters (not sure the Bulls were a real player).

Shane doesn't have the past mystic and 2011 FA class isn't eye popping. So the only thing you have is an expiring which only has value to another team trying to unload a bad contract.

    Summary: Yes.
