As much as I dislike Amare for personal reasons, I think he is a Morey-type of guy.

All of Morey's trade aquisitions follow a pattern of having a knack at getting to the foul line on a consistent basis like Lowry, Martin, and even Jeffries and even going back further to the Landry trade from Seattle. He knows that Amare gets to the line alot and a Yao-Martin-Amare-Lowry combo would put the team in the bonus immediately.

As history has shown us, Morey always gets the player he wants. He had been pursuing Martin for 2 plus seasons and basically stole Hill from New York. If the rumors are true of us trying to get Amare last season and this season, I think we have a higher chance of getting Amare than Bosh.

I would prefer us to get Bosh, but Amare would be on my 2nd list. Phoenix could do a sign and trade with us involving Arizona alums Budinger and Hill. Phoenix actually wanted to pick Budinger but chose Earl Clark because they didn't know Bud was going to be drafted so late.

And to all the people that think that Amare is only good because he played with Steve Nash, look up his stats before Nash joined the team.

Before Nash got to Phoenix in 04-05 when Stephon Marbury was the starting point guard, Amare's stats were 20.6 ppg on 71% shooting and 9 rbg.

That is pretty good if you ask me. The only thing that worries me is his health concerns and attitude problems. His defense will improve because in Phoenix, they don't run defensive plays at all! That is why Porter got canned and they decided to hire D'Antoni 1.0 in Gentry.

Your credibility and anyone who thinks Nash 'Makes' Amare is go out the window also.

Because you have no idea what you are talking about.

Amar'e has played a FULL season without Nash, he's won ROOKIE OF THE YEAR without Nash...yet Nash comes to PHX, and HIS numbers go up and Nash made Amare?

Oh yeah and Amare's numbers his second season in the NBA. 20ppg and 9rpg...THIS IS WITHOUT NASH. This is also his 2nd year in the NBA again after winning ROY. Oh yeah and he was also a top 10 pick.

Nash made the game easier for Amar'e but he did NOT make Amare. Lets remember, it wasn't until Nash played for PHX that he was considered a elite player.

By your logic, Kobe makes Gasol. Did Billups make Carmelo too? Oh and if we do get Amar'e and say Brooks averages more points than last year...than Amare made Brooks

Amar'e was ALREADY a young up and comer before Nash.

It's silly. Basketball is a TEAM sport, of course a guy is going to have better numbers with a better PG on the team, of course a guy will play better with better teammates. Same goes for Nash, do you think he wins MVP awards playing with lesser talent? Nash benefits just as much, he makes the pass and Amar'e makes the shot. What are you expecting Amare to pass to Amare?

Tiger23, you just got OWNED. Please do us a favor, put a bag over your head and don't post again for a week as punishment.

To the OP, I believe we're still pursuing any available all-star and Amare is just one of them.

If Bosh acquisition attempt fails I wouldn't mind Amare as a 2nd choice. I'm also curious about Al Jefferson. How do Amare/Al look up when they match up.

Amar'e would fill the need of a 4 that can backup the 5. He also brings offense, size and physicality to the 4 spot. Not to mention the backup 5. Amar'e's rebounding and shot blocking are also very underrated on this board.

Chuck can teach him to play post D. :D

WTF? Definitely one of the most ignorant posts I've ever seen. Nash IS the Suns. The Nash thread already pointed it out, the year before Nash went to PHX that team had Amare, JJ, Starbury and Marion....and they were a lottery team. Nash comes in and suddenly PHX looks like a world beater. I don't care about the 20 ppg and 9 rbs...obviously those were just empty stats or else why would PHX be a lottery team with Marion, JJ and a 20 pt 9 rb player on the team?

Amare is a good finisher but he is flawed as a player and certainly not worth the max. He doesn't play good D, and his rebounding is just average not great. He has a jumpshot, but he really has no elite post moves he can go to when the defense focuses on him. Sure he can convert at a high rate, but that's with Nash force feeding him the ball at spots where he can do damage with it. So while Amare does indeed make the shot (as you call it), the one who makes the shot is fairly expendable compared to the one who makes the pass. Case in point would be PHX's record with Nash in the lineup and without Amare and vice versa. Amare who?

    Great strawman.

So what does that have to do with Nash Making Amare? The guy that has made all first team

So by your logic, Pau Gasol made Kobe

Because before Pau, the Lakers were a 8th seed. One player can have a large impact on TEAM success. So you take Yao off this team and we are not even a playoff team, so by your logic...AGAIN...Brooks would be nothing without Yao. The numbers really don't matter in this argument  Brooks just put up empty stats...in fact everyone who ever put up good numbers on a bad team, they don't really matter, we should just ignore that.

Keep believing that Amare has no offense and Nash creates it all for everyone. That's not how Bball works, Nash makes things EASIER for Amare. He does NOT make Amare.

Also you have to consider how many assists Nash gets off of Amare. There are many times Amare isolates on his own and *GASP!* scores the ball without Nash making a pass to him.

Also off ball work is a SKILL folks. If Amare gets a dunk off a pick n roll that goes to his credit as well as Nash, not just one guy.

i think id rather have amar'e. i think it would be best for yao to be a jump shooter, and occasionally post up until he fully recovers. so i would want amare to be the guy taking it to the rim rather than bosh. i admit i havent seen a lot of cb4, so maybe that has something to with it. the little i do see of bosh, he seems like a jump shooting big man that goes to the rim every now and then. if thats his game, we cant have both our big men standing around shooting jumpers.
