Just curious, what players have we so-called "showcased" and actually got traded? I ask this because every year we hear about how Player A is getting "showcased". But I don't recall anything ever happening.
Barry make 1-6 3p, have 4 boards, 8 assist and 1 turnover. Barry cant penetrate, his defense is even worst than Head, how is Barry better? Other than making those on the money passes.
You answered it yourself. His on the money passes make him good. Point guards are meant to distribute without turnovers. As you said, he had 8 ast and 1 TO. Thats pretty good. And you know that all Barrys can shoot. It is a fact. Game on the line, down 2, do you want Barry shooting the 3 or Luther. No contest
How quickly we forget games like these: fast forward to 8:25 Remember that Luther used to be a good 4th quarter player. His role has diminished in recent years because of the addition of more players. But he still has a good scoring knack. Clutchfans is the only place i know that wants to trade Luther. We underestimate him way too much. I'll admit that his decision and play making skills are suspect, but he's not gonna heavy minutes at the point guard. Adelman can use him in the rotation because he does two things fairly well that fit his system: shoot the three and make cuts.
Well looking at those stats it does seen like he had an ok game. I'm really hoping he can give us something this year if not than maybe he should be traded.
Its a good tactic if they really are. He's expendable but he's healthy, young, has speed, plays decently well in the offense with no pressure, has a good career 3 pt %. Pretty much the kind of player that you'd showcase.
especially at PG. if you wanna show everything he sucks at, this is how to do it. instruct him to do nothing but catch and shoots and someone might be fooled.
well to tell the truth, he is a respectable regular season player. even though he is a horrendous, just horrendous, ball-handler and passer and a turnover machine, he has a very good 3 shot and that has often been very good for our grind-it-out offense these past few years. if all he is doing is shooting he can be a decent player. his 3 point shot being money was a help during the 22 game winning streak and a couple of years ago he was money in the 4th quarter. but man, watching games like tonight to remind you how bad he is at everything else and how turnover prone he is and then remembering 2 unbelievably bad playoff performances are not going to endear you to the fans. maybe he could one day have a playoff series not against the jazz and have a decent couple of games, but right now, he serves no useful purpose for us if he's going to play like that when it counts.
Game on the line, down 2. I take Head every single time. His a proven clutch shooter. Nevermind those j*zz games. Whens the last time barry hit the 3p nailing the win? I do not watch much of SA's game.
I logged every significant play that Luther had tonight. The plays that are bold and underlined are positive, and the rest are negative. Notice that every positive play involves him shooting the ball. - puts Yao in a bad situation by bounce passing to him on the move right at the FT line (result: TO) - fouled the jump shooter (result: 1 point for Celtics) - hit long 2 pointer (result: 2 points for Rockets) - fouled by Glen Davis on an open court drive, shoots 1/2 from FT line (result: 1 point for Rockets) - ran down the shot clock before passing to Landry at the 3 point line with :01 on the shot clock (result: TO / 24 second violation) - drives the lane, falls down and loses the ball (result: TO) - hit long 2 pointer and was fouled (result: missed FT, 2 points for Rockets) - drives to the basket on a fast break (without a numbers advantage) and is blocked (result: wasted possession) - turnover on drive into the lane (result: TO, fast break for Celtics)
Good point. I'd rather see Luther shoot, instead of trying to pass or create plays. Luther will never be a point guard. JVG tried and failed, and Adelman isn't having success either. Some players just can never develop certain skills.
His playoffs performance magnifies people's bad impression of him. No doubt about it. He is good at moving without the ball. That's how he got his shot. I don't agree that he is only good for JVG's half court offense. I think he can be useful in Adelman's movement offense. His biggest problem is his size. Coaches keep putting him at the 1 because his body looks like a PG. But he is not close to being a PG at all. He can't dribble and he can't make good decisions, the two most important skills for a PG.
