According to NBAtalk.com, the Rockets are shopping Kelvin Cato around. Now my question is why? Cato has proved to be a great defensive player and his offense has potential. What do you guys make of this? Who would you like to see him get traded for? Tracey McGrady?

Cato and Drew for Kandi and Taylor? I don't know. But I was under the impression that Cato was our Center for the future.

Bad idea if you ask me. Cato is the future. At the very least he's a defensive force who can run the floor. More importantly, he's great at playing the weak side when Francis goes one on one...by leaving himself open for the alley oop on the baseline...and he occasionally puts up 20 points. So I'm in favor of keeping him for a long time to come. Olajuwon has been working with him on his footwork (jump hook) so I see Cato being at least as good as Mutombo. Probably equal to him and that means we keep him.

That was in the Detroit News. Personally I don't see why we would. My question is how do Detroit papers know about before Houston Papers do.

I'd trade Cato, Thomas, Williams, Drew, 2 first round picks to the Clippers for Anderson, Taylor, and Kandi.

This would give us a replacement with upside for Cato, plus two guys in the last year of their contracts (I believe) so if we don't want them, we can get rid of some salary.

Plus, it's always fun to deal with the Clippers.

I like Cato, but his toughness (out how long with a sprained wrist?) and desire (I prefer to come off the bench) are a bit in question, I would say.

I think the rockets are noticing that also, (I wonder if his attitude is in question here??) oh well, we'll see what happens.

This is soooo eerie. Jenna, you were right!

Look for Cato to be moved for either:

    a) draft picks
    b) players in the last year of their contract.

Look for the lottery pick to be moved as well. It will count $3.3 million against our cap this summer.

The Rockets are obviously trying to clear room for Tim Duncan.

What if the Rox shipped Cato and Walt to Indiana for Bender and Rose? The Pacers need inside players.

If you think about it, any move the Rockets do is for their own good. They're not gonna trade Cato so they can get worse. So, I really don't care whether we trade him or not. If we trade him, then of course they'll be a downside to losing Cato, but there is probably a bigger upside to what we're getting.

Hypothetically if we got Duncan, what do you guys think of getting Tim Thomas for our starting SF?

The guy is no all-star, but he's young and athletic and tall. If we could get them both we'd have

    C - Hakeem/Miller
    PF - Duncan/Rogers/K. Thomas
    SF - T. Thomas/K. Thomas/Bullard
    SG - Anderson/??
    PG - Francis/?? (Norris?)

That leaves us thin in the backcourt, albeit with very good starters. This is assuming we lose or dump: Mobley, Cato, TMass,

    ------------------
    I have a dream.........his name's Hakeem.

I forgot to mention this earlier. There is a big risk with Cato here. His defence is great, but we need his future offense. The only way that will come about is with a lot of practice. If he has the dedication, then it might be a good idea to keep him. This guy can seriously be real good if he can work on his offense.

I don't think that Cato will be moved. The only thing that I see is maybe Cato going to the Clips with Bryce, maybe another Rocket, for Kandi, Taylor, maybe Anderson. If Taylor was a better rebounder, Kandi would improve, and DA would stay healthy I like the deal. Problem is thats 3 big if's. The deal could be great if at least two of the three pan out.
