Are we just gonna ignore the monster season that Anthony Davis is having?

I meant his entire offensive skillset.

Amazing the 2 Kentucky big men are the 2 best big men in the league right now.

The amazement people have over AD currently just shows how much the big man has declined in the NBA. These type of big men used to fill the league. At one point we had playing at a high level Dream, DRob, Shaq, Ewing, Zo. The era before Shaq/Zo joined had so many big men who either dominated all around or were great in multiple areas.

That said, AD is 21... and, yeah, if he keeps improving, then he'll clearly be the big man of his generation and the best since the end of the era above mentioned.

Shaq is obviously a top 5 big all time, but at 21 he put up 29, 13, 3 blocks, 2.5 assists and a steal for comparison sake.

I agree. But even still, he is showing some legendary skills. In any era, his handles, quickness and blocking ability are top notch.

He might go down has the best dribbling big man ever. But how much does that help. Hakeem could dribble too, as much as he needed to.

Averaging 25/11/4/2.5 the last 5 games and hasn't shot below 59% in any of those games. Pretty much averaging that for the whole year. Has a PER of 35.33 right now. Ridiculous.

I know we talk about Harden and Howard hopefully having an MVP season this year but it is going to be one hell of a tough task if Davis keeps up what he is doing right now. Look at this:

    Points - #4
Rebounds - #3 (with a .13 difference between him and Dwight at #1)
    Blocks - #1 (by a wide margin)
    Steals - #4
    Efficiency - #1

He is in the top 5 in 5 major statistical categories. Unless we have Howard or Harden lead us to one of the best NBA team records of all time, this dude is going to be a shoe in for MVP.

If the Pelicans don't make the playoffs it would require a changing of the criteria, so to speak. The MVP normally comes from a playoff team, even though it's a regular season award. The NBA don't want it tarnished the way Dirk did when GS bounced them in the first round.

Going to be interesting to see how this develops. Assuming of course Davis can maintain this.

The posts mentioning his block stats being padded at home games is a little concerning. Are these things not followed up at all?

History says no chance Davis wins MVP.

You have to go back 33 years to Moses Malone in '82 before you can find an MVP whose team is less than a #2 seed. More than half got their team to a #1 Seed. The rest no lower than #2 seed.

    For 33 years.

That's why they gave Hakeem's MVP to David Robinson, because the Rockets were a #5 seed.

Howard didn't go to College if you are talking about Cousins, Howard is still a better player.

Playing without zone d... Iso only. All those rules helped big men in the 90s, plus there were no hand check fouls. Th is is a guards era and rules have been changed to accommodate them and out traditional big men like cousins at a disadvantage. Nice try brother, but you're off the mark.

Both cousins and Davis are mvp candidates if they help their teams into march. LeBron will win it if he wants to, but this is a transitionary season and th eir best bet to steal a rose like mvp.

Uhhh...no they don't. That would be a grand mistake.

Tyreke Evans is 8th in assists and Holiday is 9th. TWO guards that are top 10 in assists so far, and Gordon is no slouch either.

The bad shooting was from early on. Tyreke is having a career year from deep. He is only having trouble finishing at the rim. Something he usually excels at. Gordon is getting out of his slump. Those guards aren't a hindrance, they are helping AD.

Take it from someone who watches every game ok?
